Tax cuts---property taxes
Does anybody have any idea if there is a resource that examines the effect the tax cuts have had on property tax increases?

Specifically I have been seeing claims by Freeper types that Bush is putting money back into peoples pockets, but these claims don't take into consideration local tax increases.

Can anybody direct me to a source that illustrates the practical effect the income tax reductions have had on local and property taxes?

Thanks in advance.

1. Property taxes have skyrocketed in MA, and in NH, where there's
no income tax. State and local services have been cut drastically as well.

2. There was a site...
that Dean's group ran. I think it was www.bushtax.com. Don't know if it's still up.

I'm in MA and my property taxes have gone up 41% in two years to make up for decreased federal funding and the unfunded mandates Bush threw at us (NCLB, homeland security mandates, etc.).

3. Dunno about a study...
although I'm sure someone's tried to do a legitimate national one.

Here in joisey, state tax reductions under Whitman are being made up by local tax increases, and the state's in a huge budget crunch thanks to both reduced Federal dollars and the economic crunch. The state has historically subsidized all the the cities and towns, and much of that subsidy money was federal.

Google "property tax increases" and have some fun. Here's an article that shows our problems are pretty common:

4. My property tax
has gone up pretty much every other year since I got my first mortgage 25 years ago. It went up before Bush, It's gone up with Bush, and it will go up after Bush.
