Great news. Bush's approval rating continues to slide.

Poll Woes For Bush

Feb. 28, 2004

(CBS/AP) The four Democrats still officially seeking their party's presidential nod will debate Sunday for the last time before Super Tuesday, even as a new CBS News poll shows President Bush's approval rating slipping below 50 percent for the first time in that survey.

Some 47% of Americans now approve of the way the President is handling his job, while 44% disapprove.

The same poll shows a John Kerry/John Edwards ticket beating one headed by Mr. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney in the fall election, by a margin of 50 percent to 42 percent.

There's more about expectations that Bush will win anyway, but I can't post more.

13. Nice drop! Here are his poll numbers for 3 years monthly..
Edited on Sat Feb-28-04 09:49 PM by TruthIsAll
Critical mass (the tipping point) has taken hold. This is a significant drop, but I expected it based on the prior polling numbers which tanked sharply (6 points) to 50%.

Don't forget. These numbers include the reaction to the Gay marriage issue. Bad news for Bush. Also, the Hastert fiasco didn't help Bush.

It will be interesting to see if the other polls drop accordingly. They should, as they move together fairly consistently.

I would be very happy to see * drop to 40% over the next 3 months. If that happens, look out.

Expect another Rove diversion.

3. He was at 50% approve and 42% disapprove the last time they
did this poll about two weeks ago. He's moving in the right direction.

6. They all have some level of hard core support,
and he isn't down to that, by any means. Seems like Nixon's was 25%? Maybe 30%? These are the people who would NEVER turn on the politician, no matter what they did.

I suspect that W's hard core is less than 25%, however. But all we need is for his "re-elect" to stay a few points under 50%.

Yeah, I know: he can't be REelected. That is true.

15. Who are they?
I can think of Poppy and Babs, and Laura, and Jeb, but who else? I doubt Cheney's daughter will vote for him. Are there that many brain dead people in America?

10. I doubt he really does. Remember, this is corporate America doing
the polling. In order to steal the election, all they have to do is give the appearance that it is close. The machines and the corrupt election officials will do the rest. My guess is less than 30%...they have always been the neocon core.

5. The disapproval numbers aren't rising
His approval numbers keep dipping, but the disapproval numbers are the ones I want to see go up. They need to be above 50%.

As others have said, it's amazing the clown even has any approval other than the 35% die hard right wing zombies.

9. No, they don't
Having them in the mid-40s is bad. I don't think anyone with disapproval that high ever won.

11. It has to be within the last 72 hours.
No point in their doing it if they don't post it.

16. Direct link to CBS poll
Kerry/Edwards formidable:
"But a Democratic ticket that combines the two candidates -- John Kerry for President and John Edwards for Vice President -- has more appeal, and could give the two Democrats a solid victory over Bush and Dick Cheney"

Starting to believe:
"Voters’ still expect a Bush win in November, although that view is less pervasive than it was in early January. Now, 49% expect Bush to win, and 42% foresee a Democrat winning the presidency. In January, 55% expected the president to be re-elected, and just 31% thought the Democratic candidate could prevail."
