DUers draw distinctions between conservatives
And I can see why: after all, who wouldn't prefer Brent Scrowcroft over Richard Perle? With hegemonic fantasies in the air of today's ruling GOP faction, it's hard not to feel sentimental, or even nostalgic about "old time" conservatives. Even I, when I see Bush, wish that Dole was President.

But the fact is that I don't really like any conservatives at all (qua their political identity). Buchanan might have worthwhile critiques of neoconservatism, but he's a horrible nativism, isolationist bigot. Dole's a nasty hack. Nixon may have run a good EPA, but he was Nixon.

They all suck.
