is there a news blackout on Iraq?

last couple of days I heard 2 mentions of Iraq. a pipeline blowup and protesters at the council meeting.

just now at DU I've read of the soldier killed defusing a bomb. what soldier they are not saying.

is it just me or has news from Iraq stopped?

16. you know what is scary?
first we discriminate against gays to "save marriage"... then, Bush, Falwell and company present their "final solution" to deal with the "gay problem"

 fucking Nazis

2. yes, and there has been for a long time
they are trying to keep the lid on the realities of a civil war thats erupting whether we install our puppet government or not.
The US public is once again, allowing the media to cover it up, the same media who did very little or no investigative journalism in the first place to keep it from happening...
Not one casket
Not one funeral
No coverage of the dead and wounded soldiers or civilians
nothing
in a war for nothing
some of us have kids in that hellhole, so we keep up on it all the time because we know we wont hear anything on the whore media

3. Well, let's see.
1. "Embedded" media coverage at the beginning.
2. Not only did they not welcome us with flowers and cheering throngs, we've been losing people daily. BTW, last I saw was that today's death was a coalition. I take that as British or someone else.
3. How much coverage have you seen about Afghanistan?

Which sort of makes you wonder if we're planning another invasion...

4. that depends on where you look
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 12:00 PM by Aidoneus
if you expect the magick picture box to be an overflowing well of knowledge, ...well, that's your first mistake. Making a point of pointing that inadequacy out is something, I suppose, but coverage of events is extensive if you know where to look.

15. I wouldn't recommend relying on them
nor the state radio outlets. By the very nature of them, deception at best or inadequacy at worse is the most that can be expected.

5. Bush* has pushed Haiti to the top of the charts
A democratically elected president that we abandoned to rebels. Once again we helped install a president only to abandon him. Now what? What will push Haiti off the front page. Mr. bush* is this your notion of a "humble foreign policy"? "No nation building"? Lying liars and........

12. It's a fact that the rate of American deaths was at its lowest in February
Does that mean that things are going well there? No. But our media concentrates on American deaths, pure and simple.

14. It's been very very quiet
and the big rotation is supposed to be happening now. It seems like a veil has fallen, I can't see a let up, maybe the invaders are forting up?
Maybe the targets have shifted, either way I have the feeling that we are sitting on a timebomb. What do you suppose 20 march is going to bring?

21. Much of the rotation has happened, 110,000 soldiers
from small towns , reserves and guard units who dont know shit from shinola are there and are terrified and shooting randomly...I havent heard from my stepson in over a week, last time I heard he told me "we are on a blackout"..I dont even know if hes alive or dead..
I dont know what the hell is going on and we have to sit here and wonder every fucking day whats going on..no one lets us know, no one calls us, no one gives a flying fuck what is going on and the military is treating the families like shit.

20. Geraldo is still over there, I think
Saw something on Fox yesterday as I was flipping channels about his convoy being under attack. Didn't concern me enough to stop and find out.

Now that you mention it, the only other mention of Iraq I've heard in the last few days was something on CNN about the something to do with the election "coming off of the Iraq war." Like it's over or something.
