Go Mark Go...Dayton breaks silence on FMA....Big Time!!!
It took him a while, but when Mark Dayton decided to come out against the FMA...he did it whle hog. Outstanding !!!

snip...

Breaking his silence on a proposed constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage, Sen. Mark Dayton thunderously denounced the idea Saturday.

Such an amendment, which President Bush embraced last week, "is unconstitutional and un-Christian," Dayton said. "If marriage is an institution created by God, leave marriage to God."

He said the amendment would institutionalize discrimination against gays and lesbians, which he said is "vicious, ugly, mean-spirited and should be illegal."

QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Should the U.S. Constitution be amended to effectively ban same-sex marriages?

3. amazing
Yes 18% 519 votes
No 82% 2407 votes
Total: 2926 votes

Significantly more opposed than just last week, if I remember correctly.

4. Thanks for reposting that poll!
I'm glad to see such lopsided results to such an abomination of a proposal.

2. Nice! "Leave marriage to God"
Fundies playing God are the bane of Christianity.

6. great guy, horrible public speaker
Mark is a very, very decent man. Exactly the sort of guy you would want to have as a neighbor, co-worker, or member of your congregation. Unfortunately, his ability to speak in public is about as good as a lot of our neighbors, co-workers, and fellow parishoners - that it, not good at all. I hope he's working intensely with a speech coach to get ready for 2006. I'm really worried the pukes are going to get some smooth-talking, fork-tongued pretty boy to run against him.

Lately I've been more embarrassed by my home state of Minnesota on the political front(idiot governor, suck-ass Coleman, etc) . But Mark Dayton is a good guy--and this is wonderful.

As Wesley Clark said--we Democrats don't just talk about faith--we live it. It is long since time that the protestant evangelicals should have gotten their self-righteous asses spanked!
