Who are the most talented young progressive Democrats?
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 06:43 PM by ludwigb
Over the course of the campaign, I've become a huge Kucinich fan. Nevertheless, I do not believe he will ever be elected president. Not because of his ideas, but more due to his looks, style, and demeanor. His "style" just isn't in the mainstream and his personality doesn't seem to appeal across the spectrum.

Who among young progressive Democrats has "it"? Who will carry on the good fight and keep pressure on younger moderates like John Edwards, Gavin Newsom and Harold Ford when their time comes? Who can compete with these guys when it comes down to a popularity contest?

Besides Dennis, the first name that occurs to me is Jessie Jackson Jr. Any young southerners out there? Westerners?

2. Zell Miller
He's smart, connected, progressive, tough on the Republicans, and is probably going to gain a higher national profile after leaving the Senate.

5. Media bashed him...

He's not handsome but neither was Johnson, Nixon, or Lincoln. Only Edwards is good looking as far as that goes for the group.

Dennis has a vision and can lead. He's not a pussy cat. I saw him fight against the party leaders, Bush, etc. about the war, etc. Media doens't like him because, they are afraid of him.

7. Peter DeFazio
I'm a big fan of his, but he's not a looker, either.

I wish everyone would get over the looks thing. I want this guy to be my Senator.

BTW, I don't see Newsom as a moderate. Not anymore.
