why don't fundies care about the GOP's alliance with the Moonies?

I've never met a fundie who liked Moon, most actually agree with me and don't consider the Unification Church to be Christian but rather just another cult. Yet for some reason they still love Falwell and Robertson and the religious right leaders who are such good friends with Moon and the party he has so much influence in.

I really wish some fundie would start an anti-Moon campaign and demand that they all boycott the GOP until he loses his power, now that would majorly help us. This seems like it could be the perfect wedge yet for some reason it isn't working.

3. That is a very good question.

We need to ask why the Bush family has such a close financial relationship with the Unification Church and Reverend Moon. These are the same Moonies who try to talk to you on the street and give you Smile! stickers. They used to hassle people at airports. This is a cult.

Why does George Bush's dad work for them? Why does the Moonie newspaper, the Washington Times, do everything it can to promote George Bush, to the point of stretching the truth? What is the agenda of the Reverend Moon for the United States?

4. It's not quite the Fundies

It's the power structure behind Fundamentalism -- and other brands of Conservative Christianity. In essence, the New Pharisees.

It's a combination of big-time evangelists like the Pat Robertson posse, crypto-Catholics (like Opus Dei), Dominionist Christians (a.k.a. Reconstructionists or Christian Economists), several smaller, divergent organizations (within the smaller churches like LDS to 7DA) and Rev. Moon.

It also explains how, in spite of its many Biblical errors, that The Passion of the Christ is not just being embraced by people of all faiths, it's been elevated to the status of a cinematic scripture inspired by the Holy Spirit.

A lot of Fundies and other staunch believers I know are not very comfortable with the Caesar-like behavior of their neo-Pharasaical "leaders".

Once the rank-and-file Fundies get wind of this, the Religious Right will fall apart. I'd say give it about five years.

9. It's in the technique.

The good old Socratic Method works best.

Just think up some good questions that will make them consider their religionized ideology. When you're talking to them, let them do most of the talking, and draw them out. At the appropriate moments, float the questions.

Sure, it takes a little practice, but it works a lot better than a point-blank approach. It also flatters them that someone would take their opinions seriously. But what it does is to give them back control of their minds, which almost always leads people away from political religiomania.

10. Ain't gonna happen

Fundies are the most stubborn, unchanging creatures on the planet. Due to fanatical dogmatic beliefs, they do not process new information except to figure out whether it should be accepted (fits with current beliefs) or discarded (does not fit with current beliefs).

They're very good at fooling themselves and they'll continue to do so for the forseeable future.

I grew up a fundy and I'm one of the few I know who made it out (heavily scarred, mind you). Once I learned not to filter things through my fundy world-view, I began to think for myself. Most fundies I know don't have the necessary courage or intellectual integrity to think rationally. They'll follow the neo-con agenda to the bitter end.
