Kerry, I hope ,is going to kiss all the boo boo's and make it all better
with the rest of the world and then everyone will stop hating us and we will be the best of friends with everyone the world over?

Is this what anyone here is expecting the Democratic party to be able to do?

Is it realistic and is it fair?

1. I don't think
merely by putting a Democrat in power they will approve of us again. We will have to prove it in our actions. But, I'm sure Kerry won't continue on the neo-conservative PNAC sponsored foreign policy agenda so that should be a big improvement from another 4 years of Bushbag.

2. yes, but no

I think it's more realistic to hope that he would be able to stabilize certain things, such as the economy, foreign relations, the environment. Stop the bleeding, as it were.

In my opinion, the world is facing some deep-seated problems that aren't going to go away just because BushCo gets booted out of the whitehouse (assuming we succeed in booting them out).

Our economy is suffering from a debt-load that took decades to accumulate. And we all know that debts take much longer to pay off than they do to accrue. The best that Kerry can hope to accomplish is to get us going in the right direction again: start paying off the debt faster than we accumulate it. But this process will take many years to complete.

I think the same is true for foreign policy and the environment. These are both large systems. Damage builds up over time, and it doesn't just go away overnight. It may already be too late. But that's no excuse to not give it our best shot.

3. When it comes to Presidents
I rarely think of what they're going to do using terms like "boo-boo", etc

4. It will take years...
to fix everything Bush has fucked up.   Though actually, some things can never be fixed -- like all the people who've been killed.

5. well...I don't know
...if merely electing the Democrat will do it, but I do believe that Kerry is infinitely better prepared for what he will face than George W. Bush is.

I believe that the process will take time, but eventually Europe will learn to trust us again.
