I must ask again: Why did Bush do nothing about the Cole bombing? |
|
This happened in October of 2000, just weeks before he 2000 election. Clinton has said he did not wish to create something to leave to the next Administration to clean up, perhaps referencing the Somalia situation that Poppy Bush left him in 1992? No matter if Clinton should or should not have gone after the culprits in the Cole bombing, does that excuse George W Bush from doing nothing? Because it didn't happen on his watch? Clinton should not have gone after Saddam for allegedly attempting to assassinate Poppy Bush when it wasn't on his watch?
When one adds this little "incident" to the fact that for eight months Bush ignored the Israeli/Palestinian problem that was festering before his eyes, as Sharon was rolling over anything and everything in his path, and also, considering the fact that Bush and Condi and the entire regime had been warned about Osama bin Laden but they tossed it aside to make plans on how ot get rid of Saddam Hussein. After all, what did the Clinton crowd know about foreign policy

Everytime that somebody on the right likes to bring up the terrorist acts that happened under Clinton, they always seem to forget that those acts didn't suddenly "not happen" when Bush took office. What did he do though? Press for a war against terra? No, he spent all summer pushing for a tax cut.
Oh, and what did he do when briefed about possible hijackings involving Bin Laden... you know, since he obviously took Bin Laden as a more serious threat than Clinton ever did, Bush definitely would've taken decisive action... no, months before it happened, he passed the buck to the "proper authorities." Oh, and he made those warning seem so imperative, that hours after the actual acts were occurring, the FAA hardly raised an eyebrow when these airliners deviated way off course.

3. Clinton did respond to the Cole bombing. An al Qaeda attack on California |
|
was prevented also.
Bush wasn't concerned about the Cole because it wasn't done by Iraq.
Remember bush stopped the FBI's investigation of the Saudis connection to terror.

4. Part of their ABC policy |

Anything But Clinton policy. Anything that Clinton did had no merit whatsoever, so they definitely shouldn't pay attention to it, much less followup on it.
Of course, now we all know it was because they were concentrating on Iraq and trying desperately to find a way to justify it.
Clinton et al, were much too nice to these assholes.
