Should Tenet be fired as the first act of the new Kerry Administration ?
Obviously he and Dubya have cut a deal. I'll save your ass if you'll save mine. They were both totally asleep at the wheel on 9/11 but they have lied and covered up for each other at every opportunity. It's true that Tenet was a Clinton appointee but he should be gone already. No doubt he thinks Bush is going to win in November and he will keep his job. He better be right because if the Democrats win the House, which is not impossible, there should be an investigation of Mr Tenet and the CIA and their efforts to cover up for the Bush Administration...

1. Although I suspect some would protest, I suspect
that would far more likely be the position Kerry has in mind for Beers.

2. No.....Greenspan
can he fire him? I know he's appointed to distinct terms, and was recently reappointed by the chimpo, but does he serve at the pres pleas, or what?

I'd put Micheal Powell ahead of Tenet, too, but it would look better, campaign-wise, to go after Tenet.

dems are too scared of decency issues to make one of Powell/FCC

let Stern carry that particular spear

3. Tenet
IMO, of course Tenet should be fired. He has been a miserable failure as CIA chief. America is going to turn over a new leaf in 2005, and Tenet just doesn't fit the profile.

13. If Kerry wins, he will appoint his own cabinet, so Ashcroft
won't be around anymore.

6. I thought Tenet had been saving his own ass of late...
and pummeling Bush in the process?

Oh well. Don't these guys have six-year terms anyway?

8. Fired is fine, but I want some truthful answers about Bushco before
the screen door hits his arse. If you fire him
there is no reason for him to cooperate. I have said many
times that when Kerry wins he needs to really clean house
so the Bush family cannot form
a shadow government that will hamstring his term or terms.
He is going to have enough trouble cleaning up this giant mess Bush has left without having to worry about Bush and the Scaifettes.
They gotta go.

9. Tenet is a long-time CIA employee who is well-liked by...
...the CIA, other branches of intelligence, not to include the OSP, and most members of both parties in Congress. He is believed to be an impartial, country-first type of person. He also has a very strong power base, and that's why Tenet is not "gone already".

Additionally, Junior tried early in 2001 to get Tenet removed from the head job at the CIA but failed in his attempt. Rumsfeld tried to have the CIA report to the DoD, and also failed in his attempt. How many other notables have managed to fight off the NeoCons?

Here's something else for you to consider...Tenet is the one who gave permission for the former CIA officers to speak publicly about what the NeoCons had done to Valerie Plame. Without his permission to speak, they could never have spoken out.

And who do you think is behind all of the leaks and negative publicity that has inundated the NeoCons since Plame was exposed? Ever hear of an ongoing CIA operation called Operation Mockingbird? Do a quick google search and post what you find out. The CIA and the NeoCons are waging a battle through the mainstream media...you can see which media outlets support the NeoCons and which ones support the CIA by the types of articles and polls being published.

12. Tenet
Bush wont fire Tenet....why? I'm guessing if tenet got the boot he would start talking. What makes me mad about Tenet is that if he knew about Bush's minions misleading and lying about the reasons to go to war then i would hope the publics right to know would supercede covering Bush's ass. For that reason alone i'd like to see him canned and maybe jailed with the rest of this administration.

16. The best thing Kerry could do in regards to the CIA...
...is to splinter it into a thousand pieces, the way Kennedy wanted to. That would cut down on the drug-running, coups, and assorted mayhem fostered by the CIA.

Unfortunately, that might also make Kerry the second JFK whacked by said agency.

But yes, Tenet should be fired, and quickly.
