Oklahoma Democratic Party snubs Veterans
A group of Veterans were promised 20 tickets to attend the upcoming Aug 12 Democratic Presential forum in Oklahoma City. The ODP (Oklahoma Democratic Party) now will not send us our promised twenty tickets.

These Veterans have worked hard as volunteers in the past, but once again Vets are offered only lip service from political parties. After the election we are forgotten. We have asked the candidates that will attend the forum for help and have recieved no help from them what so ever.

We have since learned the snub came because Kerry will not attend the forum and the ODP thought the Veterans might be disruptive.

For years Democrats have been trying to get Veteran support. This little action in Oklahoma will set the ODP back on Veteran issues 20 years.

1. What's The Reason Given? Did you maybe have to pay for
them first? Are others paying for their tickets? More info please..

I sincerely doubt the Oklahoma Democrats would be actively "snubbing" our veterans. If anyone has fought for veterans it has been the democratic party!

2. I emailed them
http://www.okdemocrats.org

Maybe we can all put some pressure on and get them to change their minds. The Veterans issue is huge this year, maybe they're out of the loop or something.

What organization are the Veterans from?
Everybody in this thread, should this be true, please make it CRYSTAL CLEAR to the Oklahoma Democratic Party that they are interfering with getting more Democrats in elected positions and ultimately electing the next Democratic President.

4. This is a very bad thing.
We must reach out to everyone.
When we went to see Dennis Kucinich Friday night we talked to the translater/signer that was there. She told us that when Chaney had been there a few weeks before they did not have a signer and it was an insult to the deaf community. Little things can make a big difference.

5. It's not going to set anyone back 20 years!
It might not be good, whatever really happened, but 20 years? I doubt it.

6. I'm ASKING Them for Their Side of the Story Before Judging
1) Who promised the tickets? Was this person speaking for the organization?

2) The website emphasizes first-come-first-served and limited availability.

3) Putting the blame on one candidate doesn't sit well with me. And not because he's my first choice (I will be voting for whoever is nominated).

4) Why would the veterans be thought to be disruptive if a candidate is not able to attend?

I'm calling and will tell them what is being said about them and see what they say.

1) Who promised the tickets? Was this person speaking for the organization?

Jay Parmley, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party promised a Veteran group who volunteers for the Oklahoma Democratic Party the tickets.

2) The website emphasizes first-come-first-served and limited availability.

Exactly, we were promised the tickets before the annoucement of the forum was made. Then they took them away when Kerry couldn't make it.

3) Putting the blame on one candidate doesn't sit well with me. And not because he's my first choice (I will be voting for whoever is nominated).

Just passing on what we were told.

4) Why would the veterans be thought to be disruptive if a candidate is not able to attend?

Ask Jay Parmley. He has given groups of tickets to te state AFL/CIO, The Oklahoma Gay and Lesbian groups, the Trial Lawyers groups, teachers, but has denied Veterans to come as a group.

I'm calling and will tell them what is being said about them and see what they say.

11. Called OKD, and They Said:
1- There are PLENTY of FREE tickets and can be had by anybody who wants them. The event is being held in a humongous arena, and 4000 FREE tickets have been issued already, but 4000 MORE can EASILY be given out.

2- It's a different matter if what is being talked about are the $150 tickets, which are for a reception.

3- To get the FREE tickets, one MUST call (405)427-3366.

12. We have called
We have called, Jay Parmley will not send us the 20 tickets he promised us.

As you read this we are sending out e-mails to every VFW, DAV, and American Legion in Oklahoma. It's obvious the Oklahoma Democratic Party doesn't care about Veterans.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If what this gentleman is saying is true this troubles me greatly. The Democratic Party should not be snubbing Veterans, who have served our country, especially in the current climate where US Forces are fighting in Iraq and in Afghanistan. With President Bush cutting VA budgets the Democrats, especially in Oklahoma, should not be alienating those Americans who have served our country.

I urge the Oklahoma Democratic Party to reconsider this matter and invite these veterans to the event this poster is describing. As I only know his side of the story I would appreciate it if you could address this issue and explain what the situation is.

I would appreciate a response on this matter at your earliest convenience. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

J. Carlos Jiacinto

17. OK Dem Party Emailed me back
The Forum is being held in Gallagher IBA Arena on the campus of OSU. We will give anyone who calls to request tickets the amount that they need. We can accommodate 13,000 guests if need be and no one is being denied tickets. Rusty Goodman, aka tboullett – among MANY others aliases, is upset for no reason. You are welcome to call us at (405) 427-3366 to requests tickets. I can assure you we are turning away not one person. Thanks for your concern, but there is no basis of fact to his claims. Take care and we hope to see you on August 12 in Stillwater.

18. Not good enough, now that the stink's rising....
These vets seem to feel they have a bone to pick.

Either talk to them with the skill of the Big Dog and get this right,
or pass the hat to the trial lawyers, etc. and cough up some reception billets. We all know the reception's where the fun is.

Edited on Mon Aug-04-03 02:35 PM by papau
Why do we get bull posted on this site.

Made up stories by Rove are bad enough

FACT: the vets are not denied tickets

Fact: if they pull 13,000 and fill the place, hell will freeze over!

:-)

What a waste of time this thread was. Why did Rusty Goodman, aka tboullett, get so upset over an event that did not happen? Is some Freeper pulling his chain and he did not realize it was a freeper con?

:-(

20. I'm With YOU
The whole post was fishy as blm said and full of holes. There was hostility towards Dems in it from the start and when given the response the poster would not be satisfied and not commit to EITHER the free OR ASK for the priced tickets and declared war on the Dem party. Plus, as I am often reminded, I do not speak for ALL Dems, so this person does not speak for ALL vets. We bin scammed.
