It's a cover-up !
Listening to the questions and the responses and noting the direction the Commission is going, it appears to be nothing more than a cover-up. Yes, Clinton didn't do all he could do and Bush was focused on al Qaeda from the very first day. Any more questions? That is just my impression at this moment....perhaps they will delve deeper as it progresses but I have my doubts...

1. No question, Bob Kerrey still hates Clinton.
Anyone remember the things he said about Clinton during his administration?

5. Kerrey also actively helped to "market" the invasion of Iraq
He was a member of the Don't expect him to do anything to challenge his paymasters too seriously.

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/dec2003/kerr-d12.shtml

SNIP
Kerrey surfaced as a leading member of an outfit known as the “Committee for the Liberation of Iraq,” formed to promote an unprovoked invasion of the Middle Eastern country.

The group, in which Kerrey was the only prominent Democrat, was essentially an offshoot of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), a Republican think tank that served as a virtual administration-in-waiting. Its principals included Richard Cheney (now vice president), Donald Rumsfeld (now defense secretary), Paul Wolfowitz (Rumsfeld’s deputy secretary), George Bush’s younger brother Jeb, the governor of Florida, and Lewis Libby (Cheney’s chief of staff). The PNAC elaborated a blueprint for achieving US global hegemony by means of military force, beginning with a war against Iraq.
SNIP

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Committee_for_the_Liberation_of_Iraq

The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq (CLI) was a non-governmental organization comprised of a "distinguished group of Americans" who wanted to free Iraq from Saddam Hussein. In a news release announcing its formation, the group said its goal was to "promote regional peace, political freedom and international security through replacement of the Saddam Hussein regime with a democratic government that respects the rights of the Iraqi people and ceases to threaten the community of nations." It had close links to the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), important shapers of the Bush administration's foreign policy.

The Washington Post reported in November 2002 that "the organization is modeled on a successful lobbying campaign to expand the NATO alliance. Members include former secretary of state George P. Shultz, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and former senator Bob Kerrey (D-Neb.). ... While the Iraq committee is an independent entity, committee officers said they expect to work closely with the administration. They already have met with Hadley and Bush political adviser Karl Rove. Committee officers and a White House spokesman said Rice, Hadley and Cheney will soon meet with the group." <1>

10. I thought that was Tony Randall up there, and I was wondering why
Tony Randall was being such a bitch towards Albright. Then I realized it was Bob Kerrey and I understood.

It's funny how you can never win. Either the elected representatives speaking for us are full of shit, or they pull someone out of retirement who isn't elected by anyone to be up there spreading their propaganda, and that person is full of shit.

3. Im not able to watch...
But are they at least throwing the same type of questions they were throwing Albright?
Or is this thing just going to piss me off more than before when I actually get around to watching it.
Did they actaully imply that Clinton did not do all he could?

6. The feeling that I've been getting is that if the US didn't bomb half of
the world, and then declare war on the other half, nothing was done to prevent terrorism. Clinton refused to behave that way so he did nothing to prevent terrorist attacks. Just because Smirky didn't take the threat seriously prior to 9/11...it's still the Clinton administrations fault.

And obviously that is all that we "little people" need to know.

21. And that is exactly where this is all going...
"The feeling that I've been getting is that if the US didn't bomb half of the world, and then declare war on the other half, nothing was done to prevent terrorism."

In an odd sort of way, the argument that either Clinton or Bush should have attacked the Taliban and Al-Queda in Afghanistan prior to 9-11 actually helps make Bush's argument that he was right to attack Iraq just in case they might one day attack us.

The direction these hearings and the media coverage is going is a bit frightening when you stop to think about it.

It is almost as if the doctrine of preemption is universally agreed to be a good idea now. Suspect someone or some country might have bad intentions? Attack them first. No panel will ever be able to say you didn't act in time.

Why didn't Clinton attack Afghanistan - he had 8 years? Why didn't Bush attack Afghanistan - he was told by the Clinton team that the Taliban and Al-Queda needed to be taken down?

See where this is going?

Syria backs and hosts all sorts of terrorists organizations. Is the idea being planted that the political parties agree that Syria is a potential military target - just incase one of the terrorist groups in Damascus might one day attack us? Isn't Senator Bob Graham even already on record advocating attacking Hezbollah camps in Lebanon and elsewhere?

Haven't the Democrats learned ANYTHING?

No assisting Totalitarian Scum with cover-ups! No backing down from Lying Totalitarian Scum like the Imperial Family and their Stooges!

I hope and pray this initial anecdotal assessments are incorrect.

8. after reading about Kerrey's involvement in the above group......
I understand his perseveration on lack of the insane military response to AQ prior to 911. he just wouldn't let it go

wasn't he in the SENATE during the 90s, when EVERY time Clinton tried to do ANYTHING militarily, whether in Iraq, the Balkans, Afghanistan, Haiti, he was EXCORIATED by the goobs and geebs in congress?

not to mention that thread on Hatch yesterday, in which he derided any attempt by Clinton to deal with terrorists?

thanks to Richard benVeniste, who, after all, knows a coverup when he sees it. He provided the highlight of what I saw, by telling Richard Armitage that Condi should BE there, to which there was substantial APPLAUSE from the audience!!!!!!!!!

other than that, it really blew donkeys, and even the DINOs on the commission that I heard were supine.

7. I was about to start a similar thread...
...calling this 'investigation' a sham. The commission was crippled from the beginning...only able to look at certain evidence, take notes and forbidden to even take the notes away from the White House.

- There is no rule of law in America. It has become: those who own the most gold (and the media) make the rules. The facade of democracy has fallen and there's nothing we can do about it short of (peaceful) revolution.

11. Reminds me of Iran Contra too.
I wish somebody would leak the briefing Bush received Aug 2001 to the press.

We need somebody to leak a plethra of documents showing how disengaged Bush was.

Too bad it will never happen.

I doubt the truth will come out in most of our lifetimes, maybe our childrens'?

Why don't we all quit? Stop activism, voting, everything. Just lay down and let them pick us up. SHAME ON CLELAND! And shame on Daschle for picking such an a8hole to replace him. Why not someone who actually cares about NYC? About people being killed? About truth? Fuck! :argh:

joking with Rumsfeld, patting each other on the back for how clever they are was more than I could take.
The commission is a complete joke.
But I will be listening to Clarke tomorrow. Why do I think they will attack him with everything they can muster?
