Are Some Republicans Trying To Take Political Advantage...? repost9/12/01
by kentuck
Of this terrible tragedy? None of us would like to think such a thought during this tragic time, but on several occasions yesterday, I heard Republican right-wingers blaming Clinton for this terrorist act. Clinton had let the military and the intelligence deteriorate to the point that this type of thing could happen, they said. They were so vehement and hateful in their charges. This was so disturbing - to think of politics during such a crisis. They may as well have been talking about the Super Bowl. It was unreal.
Although I felt that George Bush's neglect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict may have contributed to the environment that produced this terrible devastation, I did not think it was appropriate to say such a thing. I still do not think it is appropriate at this time. I only mention it to put the politics in perspective. I realize that we have some on our side that have attributed some sort of conspiracy to this act, but they are not on national radio or TV. They are mostly isolated voices, and not part of a group think. They are different.

Will Rush Limbaugh continue this political jihad today? Let us condemn those that resort to such destructive rhetoric.

This is telling because it shows that they got such an early start. Politics were not even set aside by them while the bodies cooled.

2. Yes, they were whining about
Democrats 'politicizing' 9/11 while selling pixs of chimp in Air Force One that day, running away from danger. All they've done is hypocritcally politicize 9/11 - I'm surprised their heads don't spin all the way around whenever their stupid mouths open.

They remind me of someone my dh knew who would pour salt all over somebody's dinner, then sit back and say 'don't do it back'.

He is a bomb guy isn't he? boat and a bomb. One guy and a bomb in Africa. This has no bombs and a bunch of guys. at least three on each plane. We were supposed to be watching this guy. He has done acts on our soil before. Quite a step up I'd say.

What is stunning is that it was all clear immediately, but a period of denial was in place for everyone. It took another two years for folks to start to realize that it really is that bad.
