Fox's Brit Hume to Families of Dead GIs: GET OVER I T!
Get over it.

Did anyone just see Fox's News Sunday? Brit Hume was down on those families who lost someone in Iraq for criticizing Bush's insensitive jokes about not finding WMD's. I don't have an exact quote but his thrust was in our society some are always striving for victimhood and expect the world to revolve around their over sensitivities. So there was no WMDs their love ones died for. These families should get over it.

1. Fox-unfair and insensitive
I didn't watch this but it appears anyone who supports Bu$h have to be calloused snobby millionaires who don't care about the loss of someone else's life.

Good call, is Brit still blaming Clinton for his son's suicide? He's a fing tool..."More people get killed in california than soldiers do in Iraq"...."I think that is illustrious of something". Remember that? What an asshole.

28. Hume's own grief could provide extenuation for what he said. I hadn't heard ...
anything about a son's suicide. Do you have a link or know about when Hume lost his son?

Still, what he said is really inexcusable.

4. Well, gee whiz...
what the hell's the point of having soldiers if they aren't expendable? Besides, just about all of them are either (a) from an impoverished background, (b) racial minorities, or (c) immigrant mercenaries. And don't their families get, like, $10,000.00 dollars' worth of life insurance? Plus free burial and a nice keepsake flag! And then those ungrateful families have the nerve to whine and complain. (Please note: HEAVY sarcasm!);-)

6. i watched it. it made me mad as hell
fucking bastards answer to everything they lie about, "get over it."

On another note, Bill Kristol predicted that Condi would announce on 60 minutes that she will testify under oath. Did you catch that? He phrased it differently tho. I've been researching some PNAC stuff and lots of Kristol's predictions come true....eerily so. As a result, I've been paying more attention to what that bastard says now.

15. I wonder if Condi's not testifying under oath is part of a deeper strategy
Edited on Sun Mar-28-04 01:57 PM by The Night Owl
What if Condoleeza testifies under oath but reveals nothing of value? If that happens, the media and the pundits might ridicule anyone who demands that Smirk and Dick testify under oath.

14. Brit Hume has lost all credibility
That is why he is on Fox "News". Nobody takes him seriously anymore and nobody with more brains than a toaster watches Fox "News". I must admit that I have NEVER watched Fox "News". I should someday because I know how bad they are - it would kind of be like reading the funnies to get the news . . .

22. Here's my partial transcript from the rebroadcast ...
I bet Chris Wallace wishes he'd called on someone other than Hume to speak first. Wallace's intro for the segment was,

"Why are some people up in arms about a few jokes the President told at a dinner this weekend?... I still think it's funny ... the day after some Democrats and the families of some American soldiers in Iraq, some who died in Iraq, said they were offended by this kidding about the missing WMDs. Brit?

Hume: We have a society in which one of the greatest things you can do is apply for and receive victim status and one of the qualifications for that is that you have these exquisitely tender feelings about things and sensibilities which are easily offended and in America today if your sensibilities are offended by something that has happened, you get an enormous amount of credibility and are taken very seriously....

I thought it was a good natured performance...

You have to feel like saying to people, 'JUST GET OVER IT'"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evidently realizing the enormity of what Hume was saying, both Chris Wallace and Juan Williams loudly tried to talk over the last part of Hume's last sentence, but they did not entirely succeed. I missed "Just get over it!" the first time I heard Hume, but fortunately I had my VCR on. If you're listening for Hume's voice rather than Wallace's or Williams's, you'll hear it very clearly.

The show's webpage is at http://www.foxnews.com/fns/index.html

In the middle of the page is an email link to Fox News Sunday. Today it's between photos of Donald Rumsfeld and Jayson Blair:

Ridiculing the "exquisitely tender feelings" of the families of soldiers killed
in Iraq--there are no words for this bastard.

I mean more than usual. He wasn't jumping in, cutting people off and making pained faces like he normally does. He was kind of quiet for the most part, especially when Juan Williams was speaking at length.
It was as if he was totally unprepared for the broadcast.
Maybe Britt isn't sleeping well.

WALLACE: And one that got a big laugh in the room that day -- and I must say, I still think it's funny -- the day after, some Democrats and the families of some American soldiers in Iraq, some who died in Iraq, said they were offended by this kidding about the missing weapons of mass destruction.

Brit?

HUME: Well, we have a society in which one of the greatest things you can do is a platform (ph) to see victim status, and one of the qualifications for that is that you have these exquisitely tender feelings about things and sensibilities which are easily offended.

And in America today, if your sensibilities are offended by something that has happened, you get an enormous amount of credibility and are taken very seriously.

My own view of this is, the president's there poking fun at himself over what goes down, I think, as one of his failures. And I thought it was a good-natured performance, and it made him look good only in the sense that it showed he could poke fun at himself. But he certainly doesn't disguise the record on weapons of mass destruction.

And you have to feel like saying to people, "Just get over it."
