So, no one cares anymore about why we Invaded Iraq? Or, why folks
are getting killed there? Or, why we have "Private Armies" contracted who don't have to abide by the "Geneva Convention" or "International Law" (after all the Chimp didn't resign us up for that International Lawy thingy...too confining/restrictin) and we are supposed to stay there and "finish the job" with our "Private Contractors" and our "Tax Paid Troops" and our "Chimp Buddies like Halliburton, Bechtel, Northrup Grummand, and the rest of the litany of his campaign contributors along with "Blackwater, USA" that no one ever heard about until four of their "contractors" died in Falluja...and who knows what they did to cause their demise because no one wants to talk about it because we are in Iraq and can't "cut and run" and after all....maybe if we'd stayed in Viet Nam those Americans wouldn't have "spit on our returning soldiers and called them baby killers" and ain't it all grand that we have this war to talk about and it's so fun.

1. It's going to take something horrible to make people wake up...

Reason just doesn't work with the American public anymore...

It takes either constant repetition or a catastrophe.

7. sadly, we saw what something horrible does to the masses on 9/11
it puts them to sleep, waking only for empty reassurances from the 'brave leader' :puke:

2. uh, I care
I've gotten in a goodly number of shouting matches with people who totally miss the point: we killed thousands of innocents for no good reason at all, other than to remove Hussein. And that reason alone is not enough, but no one seems to care. :-(

3. Yes, we do care.
Look at my post about the lack of coverage:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1321885

My local station is actually reporting about it. They said the images are too disturbing to air, however, this is not what I am talking about. I am talking about why there hasn't been an army of reporters descending on the White House and demanding accountability from the WMD's liar and some explanations why it was a good idea to invade Iraq.

4. KoKo1, I care!

I just finished reading an excellent book The Five Biggest Lies Bush Told Us About Iraq by Christopher Scheer, Robert Scheer, and Lakshmi Chaudhry of Alternet.org.

It's a small book, but clear about how Bush lied about the war.

I think this war is despicable, and Bush should be impeached for all his lies.

Hope you guys boot him out in November!

5. you know I care, KoKo
I've been on to this piece of shit "president" since he was my governor and I take no pleasure whatsover in being right. It's just horrific what is happening. What kills me is Clinton was impreached for lying about a BJ; Bush's lies are getting people KILLED EVERY DAY yet he is RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION.

6. KoKo, the whole thing makes my angry beyond belief.
I even have trouble expressing my contempt for all the people who led us into this hellhole of madness, bloodshed and death.

It is like Robert Oppenheimer said (quoting the Baghavad Gita) after the first nuclear bomb was exploded in New Mexico: "I am become death, the detroyer of worlds".

8. Sadly most Americans just wanted to kick some Arab ass
They really aren't too particular about the reasons. To give it the gleam of "respectability", we're doing it to "liberate" the Iraqi people.

If only those troublesome barbarians would let us "liberate" them!

21. No kidding. I never realized the extent of American bigotry!
When people basically say "So what" to the deaths of over 22,000 Iraqis in an unprovoked invasion. When they suggest we simply "level" a town with over 20,000 Iraqis like they were flies under a swatter because we're getting tired of the invaders being killed as the Iraqis try to defend themselves from our hordes.

People on this board saying those things!

I am just disgusted with Americans and their endless hate and bigotry.

9. Interest in this question is waning. The Dems have helped bury it.
Now that we have a pro-war Democratic nominee, the only questions about Iraq that may be raised in public are 2nd-order points like:
- Should we put more troops in?
- Should we share the loot with France & Germany?
- Can the Bush admin be attacked for not having an effective "exit strategy?" etc etc

However, the BASIC question of WHY we invaded Iraq -- this has already pretty much disappeared from the public dialogue. The media won't talk about it, the Republicans sure as hell won't talk about it - and interestingly, the Democrats won't talk about it either. This is because their nominee (not to mention most of their senators) voted for the thing and basically support it.

Thus, the 2-party system has once again brought us a tacit collaboration between both parties, where they silently agree not to talk about disturbing questions. The 2004 campaign will be nasty, but this issue of "Why did we invade Iraq" will be off the table - because both sides basically want it that way.

13. Kerry wimped on . . .
the two most important issues of this decade for american democracy:
1.) He refused to stand with the CBC to protest Fla's illegal electoral votes, and
2.) He voted for the IWR.
I refuse to give Kerry a pass on the latter, because #1 should have revealed what a thoroughly dishonorable man bush is. Never to be trusted about anything, especially wanting to take us to war.

11. The United States of Amnesia, as Gore Vidal calls it.
People wont admit that the boy King foooked us all really good and lied to beat the band.
Then they might have to blame themselves for backing him. Its easier for them to stay in denial and keep spinning the lies. Justification for their own personal guilt.
Yes, it will take a lot of pounding away at the wall of lies (thanks Richard Clarke). I just dont pound on these people's heads anymore, Im afraid little candies will fall out.
Choosing my battles well.

17. They need us to tell them how to react
No amount of homework will help the unwashed masses understand what we as Democrats know. They need to listen to the democratic voice of reason and vote accordingly.

19. Amen and me, too.
I think that is why I get so angry when people here condemn Dean or anyone for really speaking out powerfully. I remember 2000 so well, I remember the inept, politically correct McBride campaign in 2002....and I will never forget either.

I am tired of wimps.
