Anyone else think we are awash in oil?
If you were awash in oil, would you let people know? would you lower the prices?

HELL NO. You would lie and say that it was in short supply. In fact I remeber when this happened in 1977. Everyone lined up for hours to buy gas at the corner station.

Folks it's all about making money. Iraq has tons of oil. The higher the price is, the more they make. It's all about making money by selling bullshit, not product.

1. Iraq has tons of oil. Sure.
But most of it is ending up like this right now:

Pre-invasion, the US used to purchase a few million barrels of oil a day from Iraq. Now: Nada.

3. Um, I'm sorry, but your premise is crude.
The rest is just silly.

6. What about the last gas crisis?
Bush Sr. gave a false report to Carter that said we were running out of oil. Weren't you around then? Go look in your old MAD magazines from the carter times - the gas crunch was what lead to economy cars like toyota tercel - there was no market category for fuel efficient cars before that.

So if were were duped before, why not again?

4. agree, and a question
will someone please ask dick cheney how we are doing on the energy issue? he spent his early months crafting an energy plan for the u.s. (since we desparately needed one prior to crafting an antiterrorism plan). somebody please ask him if we are better off today than we were then, and why. in fact, he should really give us american people a follow-up report as we near the end of his term.

i'll repeat it until i hear someone ask him.

5. That was addressed just today
"it's the democrats fault the gas is so high, because they didn't vote for our energy bill three years ago"

7. Whether peak oil is real or it's all just an oil company scam
The answer is the same: pull away from oil and go into alternatives. Either for survival or for screwing the oiligarchy. win-win
