RNC launches wide-ranging legal assault on anti-Bush groups
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/03/31/gop.complaint/index.html

The Republican National Committee launched a wide-ranging legal assault Wednesday on more than two dozen political groups working to defeat President Bush.

The committee says the groups are part of an "unprecedented criminal enterprise" to circumvent federal campaign laws and pour illegal soft money contributions into the 2004 race.

In a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission, the RNC also charged that the groups are illegally coordinating their advertising attacking Bush with the campaign of presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry.

The Kerry campaign is named as a respondent in the complaint, along with the anti-Bush groups, their leaders and some of their large donors, including billionaire financier George Soros and Hollywood producer Steven Bing.

<snip>

This was the lead on the 11:00 CNN News in my area. WTF?? Now, not only do the Repukes want to lie constantly, they want to stifle anyone else who dares disagree with them?? What is this, Germany 1930?

1. They want us to waste our money fighting them in court.
While they continue to break laws and run lying ads.

Americans will always rally around OUR Constitution because it is US.

2. yeah, that's outrageous
especially coming from those who've not only looted the treasury but spent lives as currency as well

and if the campaign laws demand these groups/individuals must cease, then America is already dead.

7. Let me get this straight ...
We are a few months away from a Presidential election and the Republican party believes that any group opposing their candidate and/or working to defeat their candidate is breaking the law? They're saying the Liberal groups are being run by Democratic operatives, yet I'm willing to bet that many, many RNC operatives work for the RW political groups. So ... RW groups can spend all the money they want to trash Kerry, but if a Liberal group does the same to Bush, it's illegal, right?

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Let's see ... they've gone to court to stop the votes from being counted, they've gone to court to prevent candidates from being on the ballot and now they're going to court to stop anyone from opposing them at all.

It's official ... we are now the United States of Amerika.

8. courts, courts, courts
Let's see ... they've gone to court to stop the votes from being counted, they've gone to court to prevent candidates from being on the ballot and now they're going to court to stop anyone from opposing them at all.

And they're trying to pack the courts with right-wing ideologues. I think I'm beginning to see a pattern here...

9. "Unprecedented criminal enterprise..." that's rich, holy flurking schmidt
notice how all of the attributes one can genuinely attribute to Chimpy et al (flip flopping on every issue under the sun, trying to distract people from legitimate issues, misrepresenting truth at every opportunity, being part of an "Unprecedented criminal enterprise..." ) are the same charges they are throwing willy-nilly at anyone who opposes them? It's as though they are looking in a mirror and honestly seeing what slime they are, and thinking "Gee if we just accuse everyone else of being the exact same kind of scum sucking soulless gutless heartless fucking bastards WE REALLY ARE, why then, everyone will think we are saints!"

10. This is win-win for them
If they take it to court, we spend a shitload of money no matter to what.

If they win, there will be no anti-Bush ads except for the ones Kerry himself runs, and he will be accused of dirty politics if he runs any.

If they lose, or if this gets thrown out, then they still win. How? Right wing hacks like Limbaugh and Hannity can still say that "The DNC was charged with violation election laws" and other bullshit. And, then, additional similar sounding lies can be weaved in with that.

So it's time for a bigger weapon. Up the ante. Start telling the secrets everyone's been holding back.
