---snip---

They were mad that national security adviser Condoleezza Rice had refused to testify publicly. The White House had claimed that it would set a bad precedent and discourage future presidential aides from freely dispensing advice to the commander-in-chief. But in recent years other presidential advisers, including Tom Ridge, have testified before Congress. And Rice had no problem appearing on several television shows right before the hearings to talk about the Bush Administration's deliberations in order to slam Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism chief in the Clinton and early Bush administrations, who had released a book accusing Bush of neglecting Al Qaeda before 9/11 and undermining the fight against Osama bin Laden with the war in Iraq. On March 29, George W. Bush retreated and announced that Rice could testify under oath before the commission.

=====================

Rice make the round of media appearances -- this perhaps threw more fuel on the fire to get her to testify publicy and under oath. But what about sock-puppet bush* and cheney? Both are touting their "leadership" regarding war on terra, and then there's that quote in Bob Woodward's book about "..terrorism not being a high priority...", and although I wouldn't call the Rush Limbaugh show mainstream media...Cheney did appear on it and did some slamming of his own

Meanwhile -- bush* blames the economy on 9-11 (when he's not blaming Clinton for it), and the main theme of his campaign is war on terra and how he's doing such a good job -- but as we all know we are just getting the "spin" on this and therefore 90% of what his lips say is suspect and to taken with many many many many many grains of salt

Given that bush* promised to "...throughly investigate even a hint of scandal..." (circa 2000 campaign statement) -- and there is obviously alot of cover-ups, spin, side-stepping, flip-flopping and back-tracking going on --- don't we deserve to know the REAL TRUTH?

just my disgruntled, partisan, unpatriotic opinion -- the bush*-cheney vaudeville team should be testifying under oath and in public
