Clear Channel To Syndicate Talk Program With Jesse Jackson |
|
Clear Channel is syndicating a weekly talk show, Keep Hope Alive With the Rev. Jesse Jackson. The one-hour program airs Sunday mornings from 8-9am, EST, and will debut on April 4, in memory of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The show will originate live from gospel WGCI-AM/Chicago, but will also air on the following Clear Channel radio stations: WWPR/New York, KMEL/San Francisco, WDAS-FM/Philadelphia, WMXD/Detroit, and WKUS-AM/Norfolk. The company expects to introduce the show into other markets as the year progresses. Keep Hope Alive With the Rev. Jesse Jackson will cover topics and discussions of cultural, political and religious significance, on local, national and international levels with guest appearances by community and world leaders. - Radio and Records

I saw him at the unity dinner and it was like definitely looking at the Democratic party past, not present nor future. Al Sharpton is now the "go-to" black soundbite guy...and even here in Illinois Barak Obama represent the growing black educated middle class Jackson fought to establish.
Jesse's last shreads of any mainstream appeal went down the tubes with his marital infidelity. Even those of us who could differentiate Clenis, couldn't ignore Jackson's absolute hypocrisy.
Clear Channel owns a ton of major Urban stations and still has to fulfill a modicum of "public service" to maintain their licenses. This looks like another CYA job to me.
If Clear Channel really wanted Jesse to be heard, first, they'd put him on WGCI-FM in Chicago...the #1 rated station, not their low-powered AM and on Urban and Talk stations in all their markets.
Methinks these stations have some EEO problems that need to be papered over. Bringing Jesse on your side is good for that (just ask CBS).
