When Spain elected a new government, the right wing drumbeat was "Spain bowed to terrorism". We can't leave Iraq now...it will be giving in to terrorism.

But with the Democratic Convention coming to Boston, the city is preparing by closing all subway stations near the Fleet Center (site of the convention), the city will close I93 which runs by the Fleet Center and is the main highway bypass through Boston, and they plan to close the final stop of the commuter train at North Station leaving 35,000 passengers looking to get into Boston via different routes. Also, all streets around the Fleet Center will be closed to all pedestrian traffic. This all in the name of safety.

Have the terrorists won?

1. NO

Because under bush's "leadership and guidance" we are not fighting terrorism so there is no battle them to claim as victory. Terrorists may be continuing to succeed and whenever we change our priorities they may lose but there is no fight now. Our nation is too busy securing oil fields and providing billions to halliburton and being told what a great man george bush is.

2. What about New York?

Do you suppose it is possible to make a New York Republican convention secure from terrorism?

I have my doubts!

If I were in charge of the Republican party, I would be looking for someplace isolated -- a ski resort, maybe -- it's off season, after all --

But I have a really bad feeling about the New York convention!

4. Yeah, I've been thinking this for a while, now.

The Puke convention would be the perfect place for the Bush gang to stage their "real" Reichstag Fire. They would get all of the sympathy - even from Kerry and the Dems, and marshal law would soon follow. It really is unnerving to think about. :scared:

3. If the government can

add stupid amendments to our Constitution and tell us what to watch, what to listen to, what to wear, what to think, all while people ask for it, then the terrorists will have won!

5. The terrorists won the minute

we lowered our standards for human rights. They won when we reacted out of fear and hatred. They won when they effected a significant change in the way we, as Americans, must go about our lives. The terrorists won when we decided that "fear was not the only thing we had to fear".
A look at the administrations condescending appeasements to the Saudis and to Pakistan will reveal freedom on the run.
The terrorist also won when we decided to strike out at an Innocent population because we hated their leader and they had "better targets".
The war on terrorism will be won in the hearts of the potential future terrorists. We have so far created a generation of the demons by our ignorant response to the actions of a handful of spoiled rotten Saudi criminals on 9/11.
