told me that some of these operators can make up to half a million dollars a year. I don't really want to get into his creds but does anyone have any other info on what one of these guys make or for that matter actually do. If they can make this much a year, who is paying them?

with all that training, personal protection, special ops, commando, and more, how did they all die like sitting ducks? going through a known high-threat area (fallujah), what happened to intel, recon, defensive driving, rapid response, firepower, evasive action, etc.
i'm no expert, and of course wasn't there, but i don't understand how this went down. this can't be good if their claim to fame is protection.
edit for typo

The best-trained operator in the world can get shot by a sniper he never knew was there. A well-layed ambush is almost impossible to survive. Them's the breaks.

8. another question . . . |
|
why did the 8,000 Marines whose fortress is down the street from the location of the incident stay in lock-down and not leave their safe zone to try to save these "contractors"?
I think it's because they are freaked out with fear and don't want to die a horrible death like the blackwater "assets" did.
There's got to be much more to this story.

it just isn't their plan (i'm fairly sure) to be sitting ducks in iraq. i guess they need to come home and cease selling services to protect others too. hopeless mission?

i tend to agree, and haven't done my reading yet. but more questions:
did they attempt to defend themselves with any type of firearms? if not, why not? was their vehicle custom security model? if not, why not? did they have intel/recon/risk assessment for their travel? where were they coming from? where were they going? did they have VIP protectee with them?
they were not just professionals, THEY TRAINED SECURITY & MILITARY FORCES in protection & security. what happened? a private company does not have to reveal, i guess. within u.s. authority, they should.
i'll cut this loose until i read up, but i want to know wtf happened.
