Excellent News for Us Buried Inside a Poll..........
Today in a LA Times Poll thread there was a link to www.pollingreport.com. That listed a whole slew of polls and in the Investors Business Daily/Christian Science Monitor Poll of March 7th I found the following great info:

The good stuff is in the breakdown by region of the country. The overall poll shows Kerry 44 and Bush 41. But here's the regional breakdown (and remember the midwest is key to this election--and also note Naders numbers and where they are weak or strong):

Northeast - Bush 34; Kerry 48 and Nader 10
Midwest - Bush 39; Kerry 47 and Nader 4
South - Bush 44; Kerry 41 and Nader 6 (I didn't know Kerry was this
close in the south)
West - Bush 44; Kerry 42 and Nader 6

Nader has the lowest impact in the Midwest. He has the highest in the Northeast but that's also a lot of strong Dem land to offset it. And Kerry has 8 points over Bush in the Midwest.

2. Obviously that's part of the West stats. Think of all that would fall
into "west" region. So apparently Nader isn't doing that good in CA anymore or we would be seeing numbers like that 10 in Northeast.

3. Look behind the numbers: Kerry beats Bush in each region.
Assume Nader does not run and Kerry gets 70% of Nader and undecided voters. Its a Kerry landslide. He beats Bush 54-46:

Northeast - Bush 34; Kerry 48; Nader 10; Und 8
Bush 40, Kerry 60

Midwest - Bush 39; Kerry 47; Nader 4; Und 10
Bush 44, Kerry 56

South - Bush 44; Kerry 41; Nader 6 ; Und 9
Bush 49, Kerry 51

West - Bush 44; Kerry 42; Nader 6; Und 8
Bush 49, Kerry 51
