Have you asked your Senators to cosponsor the Voter Confidence Act?
Suppose in November, the exit polls say John Kerry won, but the electronic voting machines say George W. Bush won. We'll want a recount.

Unless electronic voting machines print paper ballots, a meaningful recount is impossible.

The only Senators sponsoring/cosponsoring "The Voter Confidence Act," to require paper-ballots, are Bob Graham, Bill Nelson, Charles Schumer, and Frank Lautenberg.

Please call the other Senators to ask them to cosponsor "The Voter Confidence Act," S.1980.

The free phone number (ask to be transferred to your Senator's office) is:
1-800-839-5276

1. This is so important

Thanks for reminding us. Everyone needs to call. I will do so tomorrow.

One of my Senators is a cosponsor (Schumer)of S.1980. The other, Clinton, presented her own Senate version of a Voter Confidence Act which is not as good because it's different than the House Voter Confidence Act, dooming both to die in conference. I'll give it a try with her anyway.

BTW, my Congressman Tim Bishop is already of cosponsor of the House version. He's a really good first time congressman. And he responds to all my calls & E-mails with a letter that actually addresses the issue I contacted him about. Not a standard form letter like "Your concerns are important to me and check my website, blah, blah, blah.

2. As a New Yorker, ask Hillary Clinton to drop her own bill and support
As a New Yorker, ask Hillary Clinton to drop her own bill and support "The Voter Confidence Act," S.1980, instead. Senator Charles Schumer is already a cosponsor of S.1980,
