DUers, know this name-Sibel Edmonds

Ever since I have been a memeber of DU, we have been holders of information that most of America dosen't know. Especially certain names.
John O'Neil was the first and his name is not heard at the major media outlets even to this day. Colleen Rowley was another.
And more recently Richard Clarke.
Now there is Sibel Edmonds.
Mrs. Edmonds is, rather 'was', an FBI translator who speaks fluent Arabic and Farci. She can fluently speak one more Middle Eastern language but I do not recall the language.
She was interviewed on Democracy Now the other day.
I highly reccomend everyone go on over to democracynow.org and listen to the interview on streaming media. It should still be archived.

Her claim is this. There was intelligence that indicated terrorists were planning an attack using airplanes and any statements by the administration are 'outrageous lies'. Also she and other translators were instructed by FBI higher-ups NOT to translate the intelligence.
Why? To let the work pile up and then use the backlog as an excuse to lobby congress for more cash.
This story, if it ever breaks here in the U.S., is the 'smoking gun'.

5. It's starting to pour

The scandals and whistle-blowing are starting to come so fast now that I can't keep it all in my head.

I'll be lucky to remember the name Cybll Edwards or whatever it was because there will be another one tomorrow.

The way that works is: the media can't focus on any one thing long enough for the meaning to sink in. And of course they will never connect the dots. We're all left confused and dazed. So, we gotta vote for the guy who's giving us this steady leadership, right?

6. Here's her story (in a UK paper of course):

A former translator for the FBI with top-secret security clearance says she has provided information to the panel investigating the 11 September attacks which proves senior officials knew of al-Qa'ida's plans to attack the US with aircraft months before the strikes happened. ... She said the claim by the National Security Adviser, Condoleezza Rice, that there was no such information was "an outrageous lie".

Sibel Edmonds said she spent more than three hours in a closed session with the commission's investigators providing information that was circulating within the FBI in the spring and summer of 2001 suggesting that an attack using aircraft was just months away and the terrorists were in place. The Bush administration, meanwhile, has sought to silence her and has obtained a gagging order from a court by citing the rarely used "state secrets privilege".

She told The Independent yesterday: "I gave {the commission} details of specific investigation files, the specific dates, specific target information, specific managers in charge of the investigation. I gave them everything so that they could go back and follow up. This is not hearsay. These are things that are documented. These things can be established very easily."

She added: "There was general information about the time-frame, about methods to be used ­ but not specifically about how they would be used ­ and about people being in place and who was ordering these sorts of terror attacks. There were other cities that were mentioned. Major cities ­ with skyscrapers."

9. This Is Getting To Be Old New News...

I've read several stories...Buzzflash was all over it when the Clarke story broke, yet nothing domestically.

While her story appears very credible, will it stand up to the fire that would surely come for a regime frontal assault...similar to the smear job we're seeing on Clarke. And this is far more than was placed on the women who came forward in 2002. The regime's tolerance with "traitors"...or I mean whistleblowers is zero.

Also, isn't there a serious question here of breach of security, even if it does come out that she is telling gospel truth? This is material that has to be investigated privately to be corroborated and not in the media, and sadly we don't have the power or the players in position to do this.

My hopes is her story holds up and stays up as this regime gets bogged down further and further in its own lies, deceptions and cover-ups. We're seeing it going on at breakneck pace and mistakes are surely being made. Best to let them dig their holes right now, feel they've won this round and hold the best ammo for when we surely will need it.

While the media doesn't want to completely admit it, the regime's #1 card...national defense/911...is being shattered and it hasn't been repaired, only the damage has been controlled. There are still a lot of questions people want answers to...Ms. Edmonds time is to come when enough people will demand those answers...like July or August would be a nice time.
