"American Dynasty" by Kevin Phillips .... |

has an interesting quote from Antonin Scalia's January 2002 speech to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. His Honesty opined that the US Constitution, as written in 1787, was divinely inspired. And in his view, democracy is a threat to this divine document. "That concensus has been upset by the emergence of democracy. .... the reactions of people of faith to this tendency of democracy to obscure the divine authority behind government should not be resignation to it but resolution to combat it as effectively as possible." (pages 107-8; also see "Infallible Justice," The Nation, 10-7-02, pg 9) Thus, we see further evidence that the great God himself wants bush in office, and is standing behind those good republicans willing to use any tactics to combat the demonic forces of democracy. This alone should convince anyone who thinks Kerry ain't perfect that it is very, very important that bush is not returned to the White House. It could also make you question if the war in Iraq has anything to do with religion? Naw, it's to spread democracy.

...that Scalia doesn't belong on the SC at all, much less have his name bandied about as the next Chief Justice.
