Poll question: What puzzles you more? (Is this too loungey?) |

Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 10:24 AM by JCCyC
Edit: I wonder if options 3 and 4 make this too, er, loungey. Feel free to move if you think so.

but I'm not puzzled at all. I need my energy to be positive, and I know that Kerry will be our next President.

Sure seems like he has sold out doesn't it. He can't leave the party, Lady Bird would disown him.
His local activities seem more in tune to the Republican song also. He was part of a group trying to tell western Fairfax county that they needed to have a high tax area to fund a mass transit project that may never get any closer than Tyson's Corner (about 10 - 12 miles away). The high tax district is only along the proposed path of the rapid rail system. If it ever did get to western Fairfax, it wouldn't be for many years. The plan already contains a proposal to gain funding by raising tolls on commuters from the area. The deal was a take-it-or-leave-it, one-time offer.
The town of Herndon (western Fairfax near Dulles Airport) rejected it but offered an alternative. They were condemned for blocking mass transit progress. Let the commercial properties of Tyson's pay for it to come that far. If, after rapid rail gets that far, they still want to take it further, then add western Fairfax to the high tax area. But don't tax people for something that may never materialize.
Tysons is in one of the most expensive areas of the state. There are a lot of very wealthy developers and property owners in the vicinity of Tyson's who would love to get benefit of this rapid transit system and have others pay for it.
That's all I remember about it. Some of the other DUers may remember the exact numbers on this. Some others may remember it from a different vantage point.

I thought it was referring to Virginia's former Gov. and former Sen. Chuck Robb. LBJ's son-in-law.
