Zappa was simultaneously combining the sound a dog makes ("Woof!" -dogs are important in his universe), and the name of the bass part of a speaker, a woofer. I have a deep voice, and I am infamous for telling the blunt and often unpleasant truth ("Troof").

I suppose my love of coyotes is subconsciously important here(although I chose the coyote avatar based on where I live, and not because of the name). Confused? Then I am doing my job.
