For The Record: Bush WAS on Vacation
nearly the whole entire month of August. Doesn't that FACT PROVE that Bush* was uninterested and completely incompetent?

Most of us know it goes well beyond incompetence - but for the mass sheeple out there still trying to defend him - Could YOU keep your job if you had been warned repeatedly about ANYTHING - and then took the month off and didn't deal with it. I can't understand why this fact is not out there - HE WAS ON VACATION AGAIN.

1. Didn't he cut the vacation short and come back to Washington early?
That's how I remember it.

Why did he comeback early?...so he could go to Florida to read to children...? That doesn't seem like a reason a president would cut a vacation short...

6. I don't remember him cutting it short
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 11:59 AM by rmpalmer
he may have by a day or two but it would've been because they were getting a bit of heat over the length of it. It I believe was close to or a record for length for a President.

I then remember he was no sooner back than he headed to Camp David for a long Labor Day weekend. So he was barely back to work when 9-11 happened.

And I'd bet much of the staff was on vacation during the same time as Chimpy. Cheney was off in Wyoming I seem to remember.

Imagine if Chimpy had come back to DC and said there was some security risk that forced them to call emergency meetings. Maybe, just maybe the hijackers might've aborted their plans if they thought there was heightened security. From what I've been reading from Clarke these guys could be spooked somewhat easily.

Or just maybe if Bushies people had been meeting every day as Clinton's people did at end of 99 they'd have shook some sparrows from the trees.

10. Link here - vacation cut short...
President Bush Cuts Vacation Short

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - President Bush has made no secret of his preference for life on the ranch, but he has decided to return to Washington a few days early from his vacation.

Bush has been here since Aug. 4. He had tentatively planned to go back Labor Day, Sept. 3.

Instead, Bush will return to the White House Aug. 31, spokesman Ari Fleischer said Friday. The president is likely to maintain the low profile he has kept this month, either at the White House or at Camp David, the spokesman said.

Bush plans to take a Labor Day trip, but Fleischer did not disclose his destination.

9. He was called back to work for a day or two to
make a speech denouncing the use of fetal tissue for "stem cell research", and to say that the use would be limited to the established strains, of which he claimed there were many more than actually existed.

2. Oh, I know. At the Lazy Dubya.
I was just browsing through the hate mailbag and it caught my eye when one of the rightwingers was complaining how Al Gore would have reacted after 9/11.

I wish I had the guy in front of me. If Al Gore had been allowed to take the office he won, 9/11 WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.

3. tinfoiler checking in here.......
it's hard to prove anything on the bush's, they are so good at deniability. he took a vacation for a whole month, preceeding the worst attack on america ever. some think that this proves he ignored the coming attacks, but some think he was blissfully unaware, or worse, that he was being prepared for it.

if he'd been warned, and went on vacation and didn't mention it to we the people, he should be punished for treason and war crimes.
but what if he was being prepared for 'something spectacular' and for a month was being briefed and also protected from any actual physical harm by being in crawford, tx. he and daddy bush both developed mysterious face rashes, (cipro?), and then......the attacks, including the anthrax murders and in my opinion, extortions.

if it had been Clinton vacationing a month before 9-11....well, i don't even need to finish the sentence. he'd have been strung up.

Unquestionably. We need to get some courage up to call a trasonous act a treasonous act. bushler's PNAC overlords needed "a Pearl Harbor" and damned if they didn't conveniently get one

It's hardly tinfoil hatism to see clearly through the fog of corporate media obfuscation and bushler demagoguery to understand the utter impossibility of the events of 9/11 happening without complicity at the highest levels of the treasonous bushler cabal and their Power Elite overlords.

8. I've never, in all my days, heard of any Washington pols
taking August off. It's the most politically productive time of each year.

11. We must keep this before America's eyes!
It is very important to keep this vacation in the public view. It shows how they completely disregarded terrorism and the threat that was omnipresent. View the 9/11 timeline and see what was going on before and during the bu$h vacation of 2001. Oh yeah - he took terrorism seriously - only when it could be used to his advantage.

13. As a Texan, I thought it was really weird...
Texas actually has its good points, but August is not the month to enjoy them. It gets REALLY HOT down here.

Not that I'd ever had a good opinion of his mental powers, but I thought he was really crazy to vacation at that time. Why not Kennebunkport?
