If Kerry loses in November, is Hillary the democrats savior for 2008? |
|
Will anyone else be able to compete against her for the nomination?
And please, let's have an honest discussion and not the hyperbole that the country will end and elections will be cancelled. They weren't cancelled after Nixon and Reagan won 49 state landslides. Life will suck. But life will go on.

2. I think this question is a downer |
|
When my daughters played sports, they had a really good coach who focused on the positive. He didn't put up with negative thoughts.
I think we Dems should focus ont he positive, especially since the LA poll showed Kerry ahead.

Not only does this question suppose that we lose in 04 but that the entire primary season comes down to Hilary. Seems a little restrictive to me.

I think it's an UTTER waste of energy to contemplate losing.
Why would ANYONE accept the promotion of a "loser" mindset?

teaches you to always evaluate every possible scenario so you will be always be prepared for whatever outcome may arise.
The election will be 50/50. We have to assume we may not win. I'm a realist. I don't look at life through rose-colored glasses. It prevents disappointment.

I find the argument "We need to get ready for 2008" to be very disingenous. I have strong doubts about your supposed belief that we need to start preparing for 2008.

Why do you even bring this up? We're still a long way from the '04 election. Hillary is the obvious frontrunner, given your hypothetical. But, four years is a lifetime in politics and Edwards or someone else could rise dramatically in that time.
BTW, Hillary would make a great president.

I try to respond to every Hillary thread with this comment. We don't like a hereditary Bush presidency, so why would a "hereditary" Clinton presidency be any better? There seem to be monarchists on both sides.
I've got nothing against Hillary. She's my Senator in New York.

19. GREAT COMMENT. I like Hillary too, but |
|
I have acquired a new understanding of the feelings the right must have had about Bill Clinton, because I have the same feelings about GB. You are absolutely right....we hate the idea of this hereditary presidency and I can understand a lot of people not wanting the same with Clinton.
She seems to be doing a very good job as Senator and if she decides to change jobs, there are a lot of positions in an administration where she would be great as well.........wether that be 2004 or 2008...or both!

even though I know a lot of people don't want to talk about it I think it's a good idea to cover all possibilities. It would be interesting to see. Personally I don't know much about Hillary so I'd have to see. It would also depend on who she's running against.

She inspires too many people too hate and not enough people to love her. Nominating her would build in a "base advantage" to whomever the Republicans nominate.

18. What a Fair Und Balanced Question, ringmastery! |
|
Truly fantastic. Brings so much to the debate.
I want to personally thank you for asking such a Fair Und Balanced Question and a VERY improtant question, too.
Are you familiar with Al Franken's book. It's Called Lies and the Lying laris who tell them
Yes, it's called
Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them
If you haven't read it yet I think you should. I think you would REALLY enjoy every page-turning word.
Don't you think so?
So tell me have you read Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them?
What was your favorite part?
Did you get the part about Hillary running from the part in Al's book where he talks about the Democrats tanking this election so that Hillary can run in 2008?

I just love it when we pretend that 2008 is a concern for many of us, and use our defeat in 2004 to justify the "discussion"

|
if Busholini is "re"-elected? at least a free and fair honest real election as opposed a fixed one. Imagine what another 4 years of these assholes in power with the corporate media spewing their propaganda daily? They want nothing more than to flood all three branches of government with far-right religious whackos that we'll be lucky if we don't need a permission slip from an approved Minister to be allowed to vote.

I bet I could run my dog against the repug candidate and the whole nation would crawl over broken glass just to vote for the dog. In that scenario,I don't think it matters who we nominate. If this country hasn't had enough by this November,it will DAMN sure have had way more than it's belly full by '08.

I'm a woman, but I'm also a realist, and I don't see the American public voting a woman as President anytime soon. I would for a woman candidate if I believed in her, but I just don't see her winning.
Plus, Hillary has too much baggage, even if it's undeserved and unfair.

If you haven't figured out yet that the situation we are in is unprecedented in US history, you need to take a longer look at what's going on. If Bush remains in the WH for another term - regardless of how he secures that term - we won't have another free and fair election in our lifetimes. At least, not without a bloody, bloody civil war.
