Bush bowed to the inevitable when he finally decided to let Condoleezza Rice testify before the bipartisan commission on 9/11.


It's about time.


Rice had made a joke of her excuse that her conversations with the President were confidential, since she blabbed to every talk show host except Jerry Springer about them.


But I understand why she's been so reluctant to testify in public, and under oath. And that's because she's way over her head here, and all we're going to see is bubbles.

Before September 11, she didn't move with any speed except lethargical to deal with the imminent Al Qaeda attack that Richard Clarke and CIA Director George Tenet were frantically warning about. According to Clarke, she did far, far less than her predecessor, Sandy Berger, under similar circumstances in the Clinton Administration.


After September 11, she said no one possible could have imagined someone flying planes into buildings. Here's the direct quote from her press conference in May of 2002: "I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another and slam it into the Pentagon. That they would try to use an airplane as a missile? A hijacked airplane as a missile?"


Turns out people within counterintelligence had gotten wind of this possibility years before.


In 1994, the French had intercepted a plot by Al Qaeda to hit the Eiffel Tower. In 1995, police in the Philippines found evidence of a possible plot to hijack a plane and fly into the CIA. Richard Clarke said his team protected the 1996 Atlanta Olympics from the threat of an aerial attack by terrorists. Even Dick Cheney said in his speech this March 17, "In 1996, Khalid Shaykh Muhammad - the mastermind of 9/11 - first proposed to Osama bin Laden that they use hijacked airliners to attack targets in the USA."

When Bush overnited in Florida on the night of September 10, 2001, it was reported that anti-aircraft missiles were made a part of the security detail....

Also...

that summer, at the Economic conference in Italy, ground-to-air missiles were part of the security arrangements there.......

I don't have the specific links to those but they are contained in one or more of the 9/11 Timelines which have been posted here before.....

'I Saw Papers That Show US Knew al-Qa'ida Would Attack Cities With Airplanes'

Whistleblower the White House wants to silence speaks to The Independent

A former translator for the FBI with top-secret security clearance says she has provided information to the panel investigating the 11 September attacks which proves senior officials knew of al-Qa'ida's plans to attack the US with aircraft months before the strikes happened.

She said the claim by the National Security Adviser, Condoleezza Rice, that there was no such information was "an outrageous lie".

Sibel Edmonds said she spent more than three hours in a closed session with the commission's investigators providing information that was circulating within the FBI in the spring and summer of 2001 suggesting that an attack using aircraft was just months away and the terrorists were in place. The Bush administration, meanwhile, has sought to silence her and has obtained a gagging order from a court by citing the rarely used "state secrets privilege".

She told The Independent yesterday: "I gave details of specific investigation files, the specific dates, specific target information, specific managers in charge of the investigation. I gave them everything so that they could go back and follow up. This is not hearsay. These are things that are documented. These things can be established very easily."

She added: "There was general information about the time-frame, about methods to be used ­ but not specifically about how they would be used ­ and about people being in place and who was ordering these sorts of terror attacks. There were other cities that were mentioned. Major cities ­ with skyscrapers."

Is the Administration giving Condi up to the wolves in exchange for a position in some future bush administration ? Perhaps she will be Jebs running mate.

I think Condi is going down, but the Admin will make sure she goes down alone. She will disappear for a few years and come back, Just like Pointdexter.

3. I think that Rice, Bush and Powell are just place holders

Rice, Bush and Powell have no say in what happens. Cheney and PNAC make the decisions for them. They are merely place holders.

What gets me is that everyone in Washington knows this yet they talk about them as if they were the real decision makers!
