Did Senator Biden make an ass of himself on Franken's show?
I found this via freepville.

Senator Joe Biden shoots down Al Fraken
No score for this post April 2 2004, 2:20 PM

Telling him that President George Bush would have thrown his body in front of the planes himself if it would have stopped 9/11. When Franken tried to bring up the war for oil conspiracy theory, Senator Biden basically told him that was bull just like the war for revenge for the attempt on his fathers life theory was bunk. Franken sounded demoralized when Senator Biden finished the interview.

2. i don't think so,
it is all interpretation. yes he said those things, but he didn't compliment the administrations handling of the terror threat at all.

i think they are insuating that what he said means more than it actually means.

4. Biden makes an ass of himself
everytime he opens his pie hole - and I am really put off with Franken not calling him on that- look Biden is a Bush apologist and has been since day one - he wanted the war

yes, * would have thrown himself in front of the planes to save us, what kind of stupid shit is that? when did that moran ever in his life do something for someone else?

I think Biden better take some time off after this - maybe he can go down to Crawdad and cut some brush

5. No way
Some here think Biden was too easy on Bush in spots. I thought the segment rocked. No way has Franken sounded demoralized for even a minute of the 9 hours he's done now.

6. I don't really see Biden as some mighty pillar of criticism against
Bush. Based what I've come to know of him, Biden was basically Biden on Franken's show today.

How can anyone take seriously his ludicrous claim that Bush would have jumped in front of the jets if it would have stopped them from hitting the WTC? Bush was reading with a group of elementary school kids for twenty minutes after the second hit. Then he makes a lame speech about the attacks and flees like a wet cat.

Someone should remind Biden that Bush himself admitted that his main concern was protecting his own ass (not his words, but the idea is the same):

http://www.hypocrites.com/article5795.html

WASHINGTON -- WASHINGTON -- President Bush spoke publicly for the first time Tuesday about his fears for himself and his family in the hours after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling a German television reporter he was "trying to get out of harm's way" before returning to the White House.

7. Maybe Franken is himself getting an education
on things he did not have time for before this. I have a feeling Franken is a little behind on the news and facts. I am willing to give him some more time to find out if he indeed wants to be a talk show host. He had some good guests today--Krugman, Biden, Clarke--excellent--obviously his talent is his name and his connections.

I don't like it too much when he has too many conservative friends calling in--I would rather have him be on one side of the fence a little more . But, perhaps, being new, he will straighten out and the show will straighten out.

I yelled at the computer when Biden said that. Here we have a man who was AWOL from his own military service in time of war and he says this?

What is with him?

10. I heard most of the Biden interview. He did a fine job!
The freepers have taken that quote out of context, as right-wingers are wont to do.

All Biden was trying to say (though I guess he could have said it more clearly) is that Bush didn't *completely* ignore the terrorism threat prior to 9/11. That's not terribly different than what Richard Clarke said: "The Bush administration considered terrorism an important issue, but not an urgent one," or words to that effect.

Remember: it's live radio, folks! Ain't no chance to edit out mistakes.

12. Biden didn't make an ass of himself on the show
He was an ass long before the show. Guy's like him are the reason the Democrats never win the male vote. He's a spineless wimp. He wouldn't fight for his own side in an argument.

He and Hamilton (9-11 commission) gave Reagan and Bush I a free pass on Iran-Contra crimes. Did any Repugs opt to give Clinton a pass on impeachment for a BJ?

Now, they'll both give Bush a pass on 9-11. That's a major example of why the Dems can't win the male vote--spineless.

13. Biden is an ass
has always been an ass and will continue to be an ass. Known as the Democrat's Barry Goldwater. Sittin' on the fence, one foot on the fence and falling off the fence. Can't make up his mind whether the grass is really greener on the other side.

Would it be too risky for a rethug to get sneaked in his spot?

17. Yeah, Biden made an ass of himself...
...he's admitted several times that this Administration is a pack of liars, but he always manages to stop himself. How DARE he try to pass this pack of thugs off as ethical or courageous in any way shape or form. Biden needs to go f'off with Crazy Ass Zell Miller.

18. Biden is a professional politician. A screwball who cares more
about his combover than anything else. I applaud Franken for exposing these neocons posing as democrats. Biden just wants to keep his job and if that includes going over to the dark side he's there.
