Air America callers.
I don't usually listen to talk radio so I don't know what most callers are like, but I've been listening to Air America the last couple days and so many of the callers are...such...slow...talkers. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving Air America but some of these callers sound as though they're reacquainting themselves with the English language as they speak. Do most callers to talk radio sound like this?

1. That's why the hosts talk over them
I don't know why some people insist that the callers be allowerd to ramble. People listen to a radio show to hear the host, not the other listeners.

4. Actually, a lot of people listen to a radio show to hear a DEBATE
between the host and listeners.

9. Actually, that's completely untrue
Can you name one radio show that got good ratings from putting on debates between the host and people who call in?

5. I disagree
I've never listened to much talk radio, and I am listening to RR right now for the first time... and she is boring the shit out of me. If I wanted to listen to a monologue I would just talk to myself. I hope she takes a caller before I get frustrated and turn it off.

7. I think that the phones are down for her
either way I'm listening to democracynow archive as I just am not so fond of RR's style. Its to centered on her for me to really get into it. Loved Franken's show today though. GO Air America!!

11. Breaking News
Since you'll be defintely voting for Kerry, I don't see why your preferences should be used to guide their programming. We don't need to get you to listen to AA. You already KNOW what you need to know. We need the people who don't know these things to listen, and Randi can help us with that.

Some people, like you, don't like the sort of radio that Randi does. They won't listen to her, but they can listen to one of the other shows. However, there are people who, unlike you, DO like that the sort of radio Randi does. Should we just forget about those people?

12. I was just reporting my own subjective impression.
You are reading way too much into my innocent post. I never meant to say or imply that my preferences should be used to guide their programming.

2. True
I think they're trying to form their thoughts into coherent sentences. Not something we hear much from the other side.

3. I've noticed that, too
How hard is it to be prepared? Write down your "talking points" if case you get nervous, and GET RIGHT TO THEM! You want to ramble, call your mom!

8. That's the ticket.. .Make notes.. most important FIRST
I call c-span often, and I always get all my points in because I start with the "best" first, and use my notes to jog my memory..

Don't read it..just prepare yourself to speak loudly and clearlym and hit your high points early, in case they DO cut you off..

You will only get a few seconds, so don't waste it ..

before ieamericaradio dropped him. Found it helpful in keeping me focused despite my nerves.

13. Many do sound like that.
Did ya'll hear the male caller that talked just like Randi? Must have been another Brooklynite.
