Homeless man's sign - "Kerry Stabbed Our Troops"
Now I KNOW there's nothing too low for the neocons. Driving to downtown Denver today I saw a homeless guy who's been wandering around for 3 years, wearing a huge wooden double-sign slung over his shoulders with a harness, waving obliviously to every passing car. Yes, the sign said KERRY STABBED OUR TROOPS! This on the day after the 600th American soldier died for bushCorp's lies, on the back of a man whose life is degraded daily by the compassionate conservatives' ceaseless attempts to shred every remaining social safety net program that Raygun didn't kill.

Sadly, this man couldn't tell you what month it is, much less who John Kerry or gwb is (I tried to talk with him about a year ago), but is making a few dollars today from bushCorp pimps who would sweep him into their Social Darwinism dustbin of disadvantaged citizens. I wonder how many drivers seeing this obscenity felt the same anger, revulsion, and Repuke-loathing as I.

But don't give HIM the finger - give it to whatever puke operative would stoop to this level of hypocrisy.

10. Don't know, but I guarantee someone is
Like I said, about a year ago I encountered him on the street and tried to talk with him about his situation. He was so disconnected (not drunk or drugged out) that an actual conversation was impossible.
I can tell you that within less than a second of seeing him with that sign, my reaction was revulsion that some slime Pub had set him up, and I would think that the reactions of a majority of drivers was the same.

12. I tend to agree with you but would not a little evidence go along way?
Can someone tail him and catch a thug paying him off and then make a big public deal about it? Catching a thief is much better than suspecting one that goes free.

14. I've got an idea...
...why don't you do it and let us all know what you discover?

Does that sound fair to you?

15. I would be honored
Where is this sign guy located? I'll first just simply ask him if he is doing it for money and if so then offer more to carry a different banner. I bet we could get a fund drive sponsored by moveon to pay him (and maybe others?) to wear the correct shirt.

17. Only Republicans would exploit damaged people for POLITICS.
Only Republicans could be so disgustingly callous.

18. What's wrong with offering MORE money to carry the correct banner?
Consider it a promotion or raise for the man. It's not like we are recruiting damaged people rather we are trying to "undamage" them.

16. Does this really help Bush..
or hurt Kerry?

In my experience, most people don't have a lot of respect or patience for the sign holders. I don't think people are going to be politically influenced by a homeless guy's sign.

On the other hand, I do see this as a clever plan to elicit donations from a roup of drivers who would probably otherwise be spitting on this man.
