A classic example of why I hate Republicans
So, I'm at the grocery store a few hours ago, trying to leave. I'm backing out of the parking space, and about halfway out, when here comes a land yacht-one of those gas-eating Town Cars or something like it- driving down my lane. I am halfway out of the parking slot so I am blocking the way somewhat. Well, she doesn't even slow down. she just keeps going, right around me. forcing me to stop when I am already blocking one lane of traffic as it is.
If someone is just beginning to pull out of the parking place, then it is up to them to stop. But, if someone is already well out and holding up traffic, they should be left to finish.
As the land yacht went by, I saw a big "Vote Republican" sticker on the back window. I drove by her on the way out and flipped her off for good measure. (I'm sure she didn't leave her self-impressed autistic stupor enough to notice.)
Maybe it's a silly gripe, but I hate when people do that, and the Rethuglican sticker just made it worse.

2. I've often noticed
that it seems 9 times out of 20 if a rude driver has a political bumper sticker on their car, it's a Repuk sticker. (this is NOT the result of a scientific survey)

3. Then you're saying

18. I've often found that 19 times out of 20...
If someone does something stupid or ignorant, they're driving a van.

4. This person with autism is a progressive Dem!
(I'm sure she didn't leave her self-impressed autistic stupor enough to notice.)

I won't be in a stupor for another few hours, either (time change, y'know) :-)

I have, however, met people with autism who are freepers. Ouch!

7. My apologies
I should not have phrased things that way.
Also, I did not mean to insult people with autism by comparing them to Republicans.

16. I accept on behalf of my daughter
12 years old with autism. She is MUCH more empathetic and aware of the plight of others than is Bush.

And one of the first people I ever heard speaking out against the evils of Walmart was a wonderful man with autism named Sean Barron.

5. I used to hand out flyers for Dems
at the metro stop. I was never surprised when a tight-lipped, unhappy looking middle-aged white woman would say, "I am a Republican."

My experience was that, as a rule, Dems smile more often than Republicans.

6. Well, you must have looked like you
didn't have enough money to be a part of the Republican Party. You've heard the saying, I know . . . "If you want to live like a Republican . . . vote Democrat.

One question though (if you do not mind) . . . what is that you have in the middle of the white house??? I cannot make it out.

10. Thanks I haven't seen the last movie
Yet, but we have bought the first two. Also, the first two of the Matrix, but waiting on Revelation. I know not as good as the Rings movies; however, Keanu Reeves is in all three Matrix and . . . well . . . he's easy on the eyes (if you know what I mean).

11. You should have backed into them
I would have. I am just that kind of person that doesn't mind causing a massive pileup to prove a point. Also in the state of Georgia if you have a accident that occurs on private property the police cannot cite you for, and it would be left up to both parties insurance companies to settle it.

That's why I drive an old Honda Civic, so if one of those pushy repugs tries to push me off the road, I don''t mind pushing back.

9. I'm not sure "self-impressed autistic stupor" is what they had in mind
When they made April National Autism Awareness Month.

During the month of April, National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM), the Autism Society of America joins millions of families affected by autism to help raise awareness of autism. This year's theme, "Rooted in Hope," centers around a national tree-planting campaign signifying the unified strength of ASA's grassroots efforts and the hope we give to families.

13. Something happend to me the other day...
I was coming home from work and on this section of the road it narrows down to one lane...two way traffic...so I'm crusing along and this woman in a Cadillac who was behind me quite a ways decides that she wan't to be in front of me...so I pay no mind because I figured she would just get in behind me and that was that...no way man...she rode the ending right lane out and started to come over into my lane while I was right there...I had to swerve into on coming traffic so that she wouldn't hit me...

Wouldn't you know it...she had a Bush/Cheney 04 sticker on her car...what a b_tch...I flicked her off several times...

15. Happens to me all the time, in this GOP town
My husband was in line at the post office today, getting customs forms for the packages we are sending to Michael in Baghdad. The postal worker asked him how many he needed, he said out loud "about 6 or 7 for now..but Ill need more..the kid will be in Iraq for the rest of the year.."
some lady in the line came up to my husband and told him "we are praying for your son"
My husband burst into tears in the Post Office, and then again in the car, because we have had nothing but attacks on our car in town, or people trying to run us off the road because of our bumper stickers against the war.
I think my poor husband was SO unused to kindness, he fell apart. The last time someone said they would "pray for Michael" in Iraq, I asked them if they would do a favor and not vote for Bush also.
They looked at me and said oh but I have to vote for Bush. fuck that.
In the meantime, I have a feeling that if my husband and I were all gung ho rah rah war, we would have oodles of friends and people in the yard cheering for us
My husband says "ya, but that would be all the wrong people."

17. I had a doozy yesterday, myself
First it started inside the store. I went in specifically to buy French bread. Over in the bakery they have a self-serve section to choose rolls, buns and bagels. The store has in big letters a sign telling customers to use the little paper sheets when self-serving. A lady didn't think that applied to her, was picking up with her bare hands and looking at several pieces. In two instances, that I saw, brought rolls to her nose to sniff (it actually touched her nose). I pointed it out to my 15 year old son and said that that was why I don't buy anything from self-serve. I have a quiet, soft voice, and had no idea the woman heard me. Loudly she asked me "What's your problem, dearie?" Before I could respond, she told me to mind my own business, and that with my attitude, I was raising my son not to respect other people. I told her to forget about my son, at least he and I are intelligent and thoughtful enough to know you do not risk public health by manhandling food with filthy hands. She said something else, and I asked her if she'd then let us touch her onion rolls before she took them home to eat for dinner. She stormed off.

We all make mistakes from time to time, and the lesson is how we all behave after we realize our little blunders, but instead, in this woman's case, she made it an issue about my parenting skills.

My son reported the nose-touching baked goods to the manager, who pulled them out of their cases. There weren't that many in there anyway.

Then outside I pulled out of my parking spot and am in the lane to leave, and she is out there by her huge Toyota Land Cruiser. She had the audacity to push, and I mean purposely push her empty cart right out in front of my moving car! It didn't hit my car, but my son did have to get out and get it out of the way. He was incensed, I had to touch him on the arm to calm him down. Idiots like that are living in their own hell, and if she wants to be an angry and hateful ass, she can be that all by herself, I'm not joining her there.

She had a "Bush-Jesus 2004 is Heaven to Me" bumper sticker. When my son saw it, he started laughing. "you know," he said "you and Bush won't ever make it up to your heaven to meet Jesus. He only takes good people."

We laughed about it all the way home, and the rest of the day, especially as we ate our French bread!
