How would Malcolm X feel about the war on terror? |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 08:35 PM by ChavezSpeakstheTruth
I've been reading his autobiography and it has struck me hard.
What's Du's opinion?
Malcom X's Muslim true name is Al-Hajj Malik El-Shabaz, btw.

And I blame the NOI for ripping from us the opportunity to know.

4. That's fine - I'm asking people to use their imaginations from what |
|
they know of him, his history, his writings and think of what he might think. Being a Black Man who felt his people were oppressed and murdered worse than any people on Earth (true) and a Muslim he would have a very strong view of shrub's crusade

I think it would be about the same as how he felt about Vietnam, but more so, since now the "enemy" is to be Islam. What I always found so fascinating about him, was watching him continuously evolve. At first his focus was on the block, then the neighborhood, then the country, then he started thinking globally. After his pilgrimage to Mecca, he changed into really thinking in universal terms. Who knows what he could have become.

an inevitable offshoot of the White Man's intolerance of the things that challenge him. i am afraid that alot of the "white establishment republican americans" are againts anyone who make them frightened about losing their world dominance position.
I can't know God's plan (He/She must have had some reason for taking Shabaz and Ghandi and countless others who had their eyes on the prize) but I know he would be organizing his People in opposition to this EVIL.

7. he totally did a 180 after Mecca |

once he realized that Islam is for peace love and inclusion. There a reason that Islam is the fastest growing religion ever. It's because they welcome anybody into their faith.
Damn the Nation of Islam for killing him.

8. The thing to remember about Brother Malcolm.... |
|
...is that he was always evolving. He grew and developed. He had an open mind. And so one of the things he would probably have learned about, had he lived, was the fact that a number of the countries he respected as a Muslim were Arab states that practiced slavery. And not in the past. (See "Garvey,Lumumba,Malcolm:black nationalist separatists" by Shawna Maglangbayan, Third World Press, Chicago,1972) Next, remember that Malcolm was in many, possibly most, ways a very American force .... yes, he was a great international force, and this caused his death .... but he was the essence of the Bill of Rights. Recall that he met MLK outside of the US Senate. He was friends with Rep. A.C. Powell. Thus, I think that were Malcolm X here today, he would be a bridge between a large branch/segment of Islam and a corresponding branch of Christianity. Remember that the largest part of the NOI went in his direction after Elijah died. Muhammad Ali has said that Malcolm was right, after all! The Elder Malcolm X would likely not see today's world in simplistic terms. He would be a force for reconciliation. Still, he would be one of the greatest spokespersons for those opposed to the extreme right-wing agenda of this administration. Can you imagine Malcolm debating guys like Hannity or O'Reilly? He would overwhelm them.
