I noticed PA Republican Nepotite (is that a word?) Billy Shuster is using the same "I approved this ad" line that BUVIL is using in his presdential campaign.
Are other Pubs using this wierd slogan...?

...things have changed with McCain-Feingold, but the idea was (at one time, at least) that you got the cheapest political rate if your voice was somewhere in the add...I rather like Ï'm george bush, and I approved this economy

All of the federal candidates are using it (or a variation -- the exact wording isn't mandated). Basically, it's intended to separate the candidate ads from the PAC/issue ads. Also, the theory was that if someone had to say, "I'm Jack Ass and I approved this message," they'd be a bit nicer, because who wants to go on record as saying they approved calling their opponent a kitten eater?
