Hey Air America .... PUT MIKE MALLOY ON THE AIR
you have the slot late at night, ... right after the Majority Report. Have something live then, rather than a repeat of a daytime show.

Mike Malloy is your guy. He'll do wonders.

I miss Mike and his show. Please put him on.

4. They could have Mike on from 8-11 pm nightly West Coast time
Edited on Fri Apr-02-04 10:57 PM by eablair3
If they'd put him on after the Majority Report, it may be 11pm-2am eastern time, but it'd be on at 8-11 pm on the west coast.

Now, that would be great.

5. no prob
I wonder if some of the people on here that seem to offer their gratuitous comments on Mike (like his supposed "ranting" etc) have even really listened to him. I mean he never got vulgar or profane. There would be no problem with decency at all. He gets a little passionate at times. But, that's what makes him so good.

Plus, more than anything else his show was very informative. It was also funny. I really liked how he worked the daily news stories into his show and his comments. It wasn't just a bunch of issues and talking points that are repeated over and over and over like some on Air America seem to be doing. Malloy was great at working in the news items of the day and making them interesting and entertaining.

7. Mike Malloy
There were times when Mike used a little foul language but not extreme and yes, it was very informative and funny. We never knew what his passion would bring next. that is what I like about Randi Rhodes. Neither one of them are afraid to say specifically what they mean.

I would swear he was going to short circuit right on the air!
No...Mike wasn't vulgar except ocassionally using the word "Rat Bastards" when referring to Republicans. But alas...what's wrong with speaking the truth?

Mike would have to agree to tone it down a bit but he would be great. I miss him. They could consider Guy James also.

26. I don't think Malloy should tone it down one iota....
I've never heard him accuse the Laura Bush of being a murder like Limbaugh did with Hillary or do a segment on the looks of Bush's kids.

Malloy sticks to the facts and attacks the adults who have chosen to serve our country and get paid by "We the taxpayers". If this new Liberal radio is going the same ole' milque toast route then its doomed from the beginning.

Get Malloy and Guy James on board ASAP.

Bernie Ward and Peter Werbe on board either! With these guys that are dangling out there, Air America could have all their time slots covered and not have to resort to replays of their earlier shows! Oh well...in a perfect world I guess!

33. no, not Bernie Ward
first, he's already on a 50,000 watt station that is the highest rated on the West Coast. I've done more than my fair share of listening to Bernie and Ray T on KGO.

Mike Malloy is better.

39. Mike does not need to change anything!!!
We need to have passionate fiery people on left leaning talk radio! We need to have somebody to channel the anger and use it.

Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?....

18. that's a good article on him
By late 1986, Malloy was hosting his own late-night show on 50,000-watt WSB. His chief issues included the Reagan administration's involvement in Central America, especially the arms-for-hostages deal, and the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel, and he performed strongly enough to be moved into a midday slot. It placed him in direct competition with Limbaugh, however, at the very time Georgia congressman Newt Gingrich was successfully leading the Republican Party into control of both houses of Congress for the first time in a half century. "I was swamped," Malloy admitted. In 1995, WSB replaced Malloy with Dr. Laura Schlessinger, herself part of the conservative phalanx in talk radio

Taking over a 10 p.m.-1 a.m. show on WLS in Chicago in 1997, Malloy raised listenership by a double-digit margin and regularly put his station in Chicago's top five for the overnight slot. In addition to being named to the Heavy Hundred in 1999 and 2000, he won the Achievement in Radio award for the best overnight show in the Chicago market. He championed the causes of several death row inmates who were ultimately exonerated or pardoned.

Most of all, in a deeply polarized time in national politics, Malloy whetted his satiric blade. The more that conservatives (and their favorite talk-show hosts) accused President Clinton of both real and imagined high crimes and misdemeanors, the more Malloy ridiculed what he routinely called the "flying-monkey right." Or as he once put it, "I'm picking on Republicans tonight. And every night."

...

The ascent of then-Gov. George W. Bush as a presidential aspirant in the late 1990s inspired all of Malloy's working-class contempt for a rich boy. "Oh, W., you want a baseball team?" he said in a typical bit, imitating the senior Bush. "How about an oil company? Off-shore drilling rights in the Red Sea. Red Sea. Never mind. We'll get it for you."

snip
___________

yes, Mike Malloy should be back on the air.

17. Mike MUST BE on Air America
For any who wonder why, just listen:
Full show archives: http://www.whiterosesociety.org/

Segments: http://www.mikemalloy.com/show.php

And just listen to the guests he brings in (scroll down): http://www.mikemalloy.com/gallery.html

Mike Malloy is a very experienced professional. He can stay within the FCC codes easily, if that is a worry, but he will not pretend and pose as a PC liberal and evade or pander like an Alan Colmes. He is a truthseeker, and a truthteller, and what is being done to America is ugly.

Yes. Right after Majority Report.

Please, please, please put him on then.

I need him.
Air America needs him.
America needs him.
The planet needs him.

23. you're wrong, imo
Malloy would make them money. He has done so in the past, and will do so again. Air America should jump on it.

The problem is that most all of radio (and the media in general) is big business, and the big business interests (not to mention the right-wing) don't want someone like Malloy on the air. He's too much for the working guy, and that is something that American business doesn't want on the air.

It's like Phil Donahue on MSNBC. He had the highest rated show on MSNBC, and they canned him and his show for the viewpoints it was offering and the voices it allowed to be heard. Big business doesn't want those viewpoints heard because it's against their interests.

if enough people demand him, then they may put him on. Conservative radio thrives on rabble rousers so why can't liberal radio? He will definitely have a lot of people listening, both people who love him and despise him.

27. We did,months ago....
There was a petition going around, anyone who saw it most likely signed up to have Malloy hired. Looks like they threw it in the trash can, there was still plenty of time to get Malloy on board.

So...instead of Malloy they re-run earlier broadcasts?? They need to rethink their strategy on exactly what kind of radio they want.

25. Since Mike has been off the air
I have listened to Thom Hartmann, Tony Trupiano, Mark Levine, Randi Rhodes and Guy James - now that Air America has been on I have listened to many of their hosts. Of the liberal talk shows I have heard Mike, Randi and Guy have what I am looking for. Mike has to be put on Air America the 11:00 spot would be great and hopefully whiterose could still archive for east coast folks like me.

So contact Air America and tell them GIVE US MIKE MALLOY - if they are worried he is too "outrageous" - truthfully I doh't think he is much more "outrageous" than Randi which is why I love her!!!!

email Air America today!!!

We want, love and need Mike Malloy on the air...I've alway known he was the best and each day that goes by just reinforces it...

(Disclaimer warning: Malloy is not for the meek "liberals")

Mike Malloy is the most entertaining radio host I've ever heard.
95% of the time he can make three hours fly by so quickly and most of the time I'm still wanting more.

He is the absolute best and it pisses me off how hardheaded the people at Air America Radio I've spoken with are.

30. Sirius Satellite
Sorry I can't start a new thread yet and this one was the closest to the subject.

Sirius Satellite radio will announce Monday that they will be carrying Air America programming too.

I have no idea about any schedules or who they will be carrying.

But for any Sirius subscribers who were going to switch to XM don't run to the Best Buy just yet.
