Powell coming clean?
Apparent he's now saying his evidence was "flawed" about Iraq's WMD when he testified before the U.N. I believe he's also stated he wouldn't have recommended military action, but could be wrong about that.

I'm wondering if the real and present danger (to the bushistas) of a Kerry presidency, leading to a thorough and complete investigation into Iraqgate, are helping Powell wax sincere. Plus, I doubt today's declaration has gotten the george dumbya stamp of approval. Et tu Brute?

1. He had the Chimpys stamp of approval to say this
Otherwise he would have never said it. Powell is setting the stage for Bush and his minions to say mistakes were made before invading Iraq. When in fact no mistakes were made. They knew exactly what they were doing.

2. Frankly, I don't see how this is "coming clean"...

It's rather obvious that the intelligence was "flawed" in some way. This fact has been under discussion for a few months, at least. Maybe I'm missing some nuance, but isn't he jsut stating the obvious? And if so, how does that constitute "coming clean"??

6. Bowell doesn't have the faintest intent of 'coming clean'. The little
general has sold his soul to the devil, and the devil is holding him to the deal. Bowell's problem is that he was caught lying, and he's trying to make it look like he isn't the pandering whore that he is. He's built an entire career on lying for corrupt politicians and covering up horrific scandals. And truthfully, he wasn't that good at it. The truth always came out in the end. So now he wants to try to put out another version of the truth, he was a victim of bad intelligence.

Note to Bowell: NO WAY. You knew you were lying, now live with the fact that we knew it too. And with every day, more and more people are waking up to the fact that you were so gutless, spineless, and morally bankrupt that you let yourself be used and abused, and no one cares. You asked for it. bush* & co. chewed you up and spit you out. Now get the hell out of public life and take you damn son with you.

7. too little, too late?

Just saw the CBS Morning Show, they had a segment on an Army Captain coming home from Iraq -- former die-hard Repub., West Point graduate, etc., now will be supporting Kerry. The host pointed out that Bush would have lost Florida in 2000 if not for the absentee military ballots.

Powell Blames C.I.A. for Error on Iraq Mobile Labs
By CHRISTOPHER MARQUIS

ASHINGTON, April 2 — Secretary of State Colin L. Powell said Friday that he had had assurances from the intelligence community that one of the principal charges he made in a speech to the United Nations last year — that Iraq had mobile weapons laboratories — had been multisourced and was solid at the time.

Mr. Powell urged a presidential commission examining intelligence problems in Iraq to look into what he said was a failure by the Central Intelligence Agency.

10. Remember the cartoon drawings of trucks at his UN speech?
It was laughable. And they wonder why the UN didn't buy in to this war. US intelligence couldn't even produce a viable photograph because there were no contemporaneous pics. Any pics they had were likely 10 years old and they would have been exposed as frauds if they had used them to support their case for war. This whole war has been a big deadly and tragic cartoon. And now Powell says the intelligence was flawed??? It was nonexistent!
