bushgang hides US largest toxic accident - who knew?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/04/01/60minutes/main609889.shtml

A government whistle-blower says the Bush administration covered up the reasons for a toxic coal slurry spill in Appalachia that ranks among the worst environmental disasters in U.S. history.

Jack Spadaro tells Correspondent Bob Simon that political appointees in the Department of Labor whitewashed a report that said an energy company that had contributed to the Republican Party was responsible for the 300-million gallon spill.

-snip-

"It polluted 100 miles of streams, killing everything in the streams, all the way to the Ohio River," says Spadaro of the October 2000 spill that affected West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky.

"The Bush administration came in and the scope of our investigation was considerably shortened. I had never seen something so corrupt and lawless in my entire career...interference with a federal investigation of the most serious environmental disaster in the history of the Eastern United States."

3. Doesn't sound to me that the admin. dropped the ball on this...
Rather, it sounds to me that the investigation was curtailed once * assumed the office (kinda like, oh I don't know...Kyoto, anti-terror programs, Nuclear Treaty, logging in the national forests...Yeah, I know, trivial stuff).

5. Yes, it sounds as if the crime here was the cover-up.
Government covering for big donors. They don't need wars for rape and pillage.

9. That's the most pathetically transparent attempt to bash Clinton I've seen
...in at least a few days.

Here's where the blame lies (from the article):

"The Bush administration came in and the scope of our investigation was considerably shortened. I had never seen something so corrupt and lawless in my entire career."
-- Jack Spadaro, former head of the National Mine Health and Safety Academy

4. we have to mass email the media....
and demand these stories be covered...we as people do have the power...we have been manipulated and felt powerless for too long...way too long...I just emailed CNN and blasted them and as soon as I am done here, I am emailing every single station I can think of...then my local paper...then all Democrats in congress and tell them we want action....I encourage you to all do the same...I just simply copy the article (with credits intact) and put at the top
WHY AREN'T WE HEARING ABOUT THIS...it takes a little time, but it is sooooooooooooo worth it.

this administration HAS GOTS TO GO....and they are banking that us Democrats are way too passive to do anything about it
remember how we all united after 9/11??? get that feeling back and start fighting...
..again...power to the people...power to the people right on.
