Franken and Garafalo may be the ‘marquee’ names behind Air American, but if there is going to be national, liberal TALK radio... It’s up to Randi to deliver.

And I have no doubt that she will.

Was she a bit stressed in these opening shows for Air America?

Yeah. But, is that a surprise? She just made a major move to FL to NYC. She’s going out to a national broadcast for the first time after a long fight. She's been off-the-air for weeks. The media is ignoring her in stories about the new station. And...

She can’t smoke.

If liberal TALK radio is going to work it's going to be because of talent like Randi, Malloy, Guy James, and others who have a strong, informed personality and ENGAGE directly with the listeners through spontaneous, unpredictable CONVERSATION.

That is what makes talk radio.

I love the scripted bits that Franken is producing. (The “Ann Coulter locked in the Green Room” routine on the opening show was brilliant!)

But, that is not TALK radio.

Randi Rhodes is the real deal. Give her a little slack while she settles into this new groove.

P.S. “Bounce Your Boobies” is a total HOOT and the perfect tonic for a Friday!

A real liberal questions things, even things in her beloved democratic party. So, she didn't flinch when her boy Clinton axed a bunch of poor people from the welfare rolls, and into the gutter? Did she complain when Clinton bombed an aspirin factory in the Sudan, killing the supply of medicine to poor Africans? Did she complain when Clinton bombed Iraq; or the lie about Bush Sr. being marked for assassination? Did she? Did she??

She is a mere democrat, with good ideas and some bad. Basically, a mild centrist. Why do you think corporate radio let her speak?

I can give you an instance where she did criticize Clinton, and to his face.

After the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (the one that let Clear channel gooble up all those stations they now own), Randi had a face-to-face with Clinton for five minutes.

She berated him for signing the act, pointing out it would make right-wing radio even more right-wing. Clinton's response was 'You're right - it may have gone too far.'

And besides, criticizing Clinton's still being done by Pigboy and all the wannabes.

Why do you want her to criticize a Dem on a liberal radio network, anyway? Isn't there plenty of that all over the radio already (not that she doesn't - catch her talking about Lieberman sometimes to see what I mean).

After listening to her scream for a few hours, I was extremely disappointed. One need not scream and talk over people to get their point across.

It appears to me, that once again, some liberals are becoming what they (supposedly) hate - a liberal Rush.

Mike Malloy and Guy James are liberals. They certainly can and do get their points across. Yet they don't scream like banshees.

When I listen to talk radio, it is because I want to hear what is being said.

and the Randi I heard that first show was, yes, OFF. not on her game 100%. stressed. pissed. snippy.

I am glad she is on in drive time, I wish malloy was doing the morning drive gig. Al is ok in the mid day slot, typically a bit milder and slower paced but he still has some work to do.

Randi MUST be a DUer, she is so well informed with facts and has them all at the tip of her tongue. I spend WAY too much time here, maybe 40 or 50 hours a week and she brings up things I havn't seen yet.

No offense to Guy, I really like his show and he is more informed than 95% of the US but when a winger calls sometimes I feel like screaming out the arguments. Like today when that RW nut said all libruls are wimps, what about CLELAND, what about Kerry's service compared to all the chickenhawks. Randi, or Malloy would have had that moran pissing in his pants. Shyte, she had Nader pissing in his pants.
