Can Anything Stop The Neo-Cons? |
|
I am beginning to think that this administration is so hell-bent on carrying out their complete agenda, that they will let NOTHING stand in their way.
For instance - Even if Kerry could legitimately win the presidency, no matter what we do, if the election is Diebolded and the November election results in another stolen presidency, what is the point of anything?
I am getting pretty weary and increasingly depressed over what seems to be the inevitability of the U.S. becoming a fascist state.
What, if anything, can ensure that the dems a fair shake in November?

1. You always ask for more than you think you'll get. |

Iraq may be all they really expected to get, even if they really want more. We're pretty much stuck there fore the forseeable future, no matter what Kerry does. They got away with a lot more than anyone ever thought they would be able to do, Patriot Act, Total Information Awareness (mostly), gutting Medicare, privatizing tons of jobs, transferring wealth to the top 1%...
Their Administration has been a roaring success by the measure of those whom it benefitted. They don't care what the average American thinks, and I don't think they expected to serve two terms. What's more, I don't think they care if they do. Bush was speculating that he wouldn't run again as soon as he was elected.
They've done what they came to do. The rest is just so much table scraps for the rest of us.

2. Yes, but if they get 4 more years, without |
|
hopes of being re-selected they will have that much more time to complete their agenda. By that time, things will be so far gone, I don't think it will matter who is in office.
I think they will keep going until they are forcibly stopped, unfortunately.

4. Oh, STOP the gloom & doom already! |
|
Take a deep breath and think about what has happened AGAINST this admin just in the past few weeks!
It's only April for goodness sake!
I'm a firm believer that if your opposition is shooting at each other, DON'T GET IN THE LINE OF FIRE! Kerry just needs to let them destroy themselves.
The thing that worries me most isn't winning the election, but after the election. If we can't take back the House and Senate, or at least the Seante, we are going to see another four years of the same abuse that Clinton got.
Clinton didn't have ONE DAY in office when some Pub wasn't accusing him of something and it lasted for the entire * years!
If you're going to worry about something, that's something to worry about!!!!!

7. We'll pull through, DeLay and co are SWINE and people know it |

Kerry is a likeable guy with the ability to appeal to Americans. He will look much better on TV than the Republicans which will give him a huge advantage.

6. What has happened against this administration |
|
in the last 4 weeks, and indeed over the last year, under normal circumstances would have no doubt resulted in impeachment. Obviously, it hasn't. It's not what we are throwing at them, it what STICKS that counts.
I will regain my optimism when it becomes apparent that the Clarke accusations aren't going the way of the Plame investigation - and every other major infraction by the Bush Administration that hasn't gotten swept under the rug.

8. The big difference is congress... |
|
Bush is the first president since I believe John Adams, to not veto a single piece of legislation. Even though there have been instances where congress and the white house were controlled by the same party, this is probably the first time that the congressional leadership have been under the direct control of the white house.

9. nothing peaceful or democratic can stop them |

just as laws do not stop crime, only enforcement can, so will stopping neocons require force.
They are amoral and believe that:
might makes right
the ends justify the means
the victors write the history books

when the country becomes so gutted THEN people will realize what we already know. I just hope they wake up before the election.
