The DU unity thread.

With all the world events going on it's easy to get distracted from our primary goal here-the defeat of George W. Bush.

Many of the forums have really degenerated through loss of focus on that goal.

It's time to refocus on that very achievable goal.

Let's stop arguing about methodology, let's stop being distracted, let's focus our energies and emotions, our skills and talents on the defeat of George W. Bush- let's have a unity thread.

George W. Bush has got to go. Back to basics time-all in unity with that just post any agreement in this thread, it'll make you feel recharged.

I fully agree, but I believe DUers are in unspoken accord on this--in other words there aren't many people who feel they need to post a 'You know, we really DO all want to get Bush out', because it is assumed everyone does.

That's why the internecine stuff is a lot more sexy--people are bound to disagree on that stuff. Disagreements pass for entertainment on many internet message boards. :(

I hope DUer's are in all kinds of accord on our primary goal, it's good to restate that every so often though, isn't it?

certain topics. Divisiveness is the favorite control
knob of the opposition.
So let's knock it off!

6. For the record-

I am guilty of some rather vicious posts myself.
I have apologized to the people I acted inappropriately
towards- to me, that is an essential part of living with myself.
Recognizing when I have done wrong and attempting
to make amends for bad behavior.
I wish some others shared that philosophy-
I think it is imperative that we be able to admit when we are
wrong in the interest of unity.
If I owe anyone an apology-let me know.

I insinuated that a certain poster might own some "brown shirts."
That wasn't very nice, however, I DID apologize for
my behavior.
We all fly off the handle now and then- especially when
we are continually poked in the eye with a sharp stick!

DU has been pretty hard to read in the last couple weeks. Whether its left attacking center or center ridiculing left it just isn't productive. Lets try to include everyone and maximize our chances for victory later this year.

I wish I had thought of it as such as it would be much more clever than its current source. Its a goofy line from Brak ala Space Ghost Coast to Coast (more specifically Cartoon Planet) but I really love the yankee doodle idea.. Kudos on the unity thread it is needed :)
