Date Trees and Saddam?

I got an email today about a story circulating on the net about Saddam. According to the email,the picture of Saddam exiting the hole is a fake because the trees indicate a month/time other than December .

Does anyone have any documentation?

1. There was a lot of discussion of that here,

at the time of Saddam's collaring. Apparently, most dates in Iraq turn that color ( ripen?) several months earlier. But someone pointed out that there IS a species in Iraq that turns that color around that time of the year. So it's still "undecided".

But other discussion revealed that a Kurdish force had siezed Saddam, with little or no aid of the US forces. There was also the strong speculation that they were keeeping him on "ice" for the right PR-worthy time. I think there were fairly reliable sources cited for this, but I kept no notes. Others here may recall.

2. I did date a tree once as a college student

It was a bizarre ritual which I'd really rather not go into.

I would not, however, date Mr. Hussein under any circumstances, as I find his posture somewhat haughty.
