Bush waiting for Democrats to save his ass in Iraq....? |
|
He has declared a June 30th deadline to turn over the "government" to Iraq. The only problem is : there is no "government". And now, what little stability that had been restored has turned to chaos and anarchy with the latest venture into Falluja.
Bush knows it is totally unrealistic to pull the troops back by June 30th but he needs Joe Biden, Joe Lieberman, or some great "non-partisan" Democrat to suggest the idea so his fat can be pulled out of the fire. They will accomodate him in just a few days and he will use them as an "excuse" and validation to move the date forward.

1. The June 30 date was meaningless anyway |
|
The troops remain after that date.
There is a puppet government there now and the puppet government remains after that date.
It was a fictitious date that Smirk could point to during the election and say: "see, mission accomplished, we toppled Saddam and now the Iraqis are running their own democratic government"
It's all smoke and mirrors.

2. the chaos is much more than Fallujah... |
|
Fallujah is Sunni, and it has been the Sunni who are responsible for most of the insurgency.
as of this weekend, there was a HUGE Shiite uprising across Iraq.
that's the majority population.
so many cities to 'pacify'
it's falling apart, fast.

5. I'm afraid you're right.... |

Lieberman will punish the party for the shellacking he got in the primaries, though he was NEVER much of a Democrat. Biden is a puzzle, unless there's vile dirt on him. But some Dem will betray us, all the while saying it's to protect the troops. Their best protection is to be home with their families.
