Did Bush just nail Condi?
"If we knew someone might fly planes into buildings we would have done something to stop it!"

But don't we have very clear paper trails now stating exactly that, that we DID know? Isn't that a significant part of the issue here? It seems he's set them both up as being incompetent hacks asleep at the switch.

2. and is he admitting that they did nothing because....
they knew planes were going to get hijacked, but they didn't know they'd fly them into buildings?

5. So you're saying that if the "traditional hijackings" were stopped
then the crashing them into buildings part doesn't happen?

Logic, is so, like, logical.

6. Yup... this is looking more and more like Watergate every day
Condi = G Gordon Liddy and/or Dean... Nixon threw them to the wolves, and now W may be tossing Condi out there.

Which reminds me of a great cartoon from the 70's about that. It had Nixon and Agnew in a sleigh racing through the snow being chased by wolves and they were tossing papers, Liddy and Dean out the back to stave off the pack! Brilliant cartoon! Unfortunately I don't have a copy of it to share with you all.

10. Yeah, I think Bush would prefer the "incompetency" label at this point
Because really, would you rather have people think that you and your administration are incompetent boobs, or that you and your administration are mass murderers?

14. what is that, escaping by Dan Quayle clause?
LOL when the thought of having to choose between stupid and murderer is presented, I say it's time for him to just go home. There's no real way to salvage is public image at that point.

Amongst the 'pugs in my office, I'm the lone liberal in my division, they all said when Shrub took office in 2000: "Well at lest he's smart enough to surround himself with good people" Which I've taken to mean that the moderate 'pugs don't have faith in Shrub directly and now that the rest of the Administration is proving to be just as incompetent and self-serving as Shrub himself they are now at a loss as to what to do.

It's funny to watch in a train wreck sorta way. They despise "tax and spend" Democrats (Their understanding of the Democratic party is appalling but not unexpected) and they really don't like Nader here. But, they have little to no faith in bushco, and are being pounded by his national and international business policies and so they are feeling very betrayed. They grumble and gripe all the time about bushco's "business" and a few have even praised Clinton's take on foreign relations and business.

8. Well, Bush seemed to be aware of a plane threat.
I started this thread last night:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=125x10224

(6:00 a.m.)

President Bush has just spent the night at Colony Beach and Tennis Resort on Longboat Key, Florida. Surface-to-air missiles have been placed on the roof of the resort. <Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 9/10/02> Bush wakes up around 6:00 a.m. and is preparing for his morning jog. A van occupied by men of Middle Eastern descent pull up to the Colony stating they have a “poolside” interview with the president. They are turned away for not having an appointment.

So what was the purpose of the surface-to-air missiles?

9. Air attacks against Bush were threatened in June 2001, when

he attended the G-8 conference at Genoa. The threats came from Al Qaeda. That's why he stayed on a ship in the harbor, that's why anti-aircraft missiles were set up and Genoa's airspace controlled and patroled by fighters.

But nobody had a clue that Al Qaeda might be attacking when four jets were hijacked on September 11. . . Why???

13. So strangely clueless....
Even if they'd just been expecting "conventional" hijackings, four jets hijacked simultaneously should have set off some alarms. Then the WTC was hit--but they didn't cancel Bush's photo op. After the second hit, he still stayed put.

No news to you, I know. Just restating it for the lurking conspiracy-scoffers.
