No news from Iraq?
When I was leaving the house this morning, all hell was breaking loose in Iraq: Marines about to go into Fallujah, explosions, demonstrations, helicoptors...

But all day long, there's been an eerie silence from that direction. Nothing new. Nothing to see here. Nothing going on. Oh, wait, they issued an arrest warrant. Then silence.

I don't for a moment believe that no news is good news.

2. I am wondering the same thing
The cleric is barricaded in a building, so what's happening?

Is Rummy ordering more shock and awe and it's not fit for American consumption?

In the run-up to the war, Iraq was on 24 hours a day. Now there's nothing.

3. You are right. It has been silent. But Sadr has commented on
the warrant. Basically stating that he will never be caught.

The media in Europe is quiet as well. I don't know about Al Jazeera. I think they have people inside Fallujah.

Here is their latest story about Falluja from their english-language web site.

4. News Blackout
That way we can bask in our glorious victory when all is said and done.

Unfortunately, the rate of soldiers dying in "accidents" are going to dramatically increase in the coming months.

5. There was this article "Abizaid asks for more Iraq troops"
US Central Command chief General John Abizaid has asked military commanders to give him options for quickly sending more troops to Iraq after a bloody upsurge in violence over the weekend, a senior Centcom official said today.

"The events of the weekend show an obvious potential for more demonstrations and more violence," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"We asked our staff to look at what forces might be available in quick-response mode."

But the official said: "We don't believe we'll need additional forces; we're doing this as a matter of planning. We've got adequate forces to do the job."

CNN reported earlier that Abizaid had asked military leaders to supply plans for consideration within the next 48 hours.

So it looks like Abizaid thinks he may be needing a little help.

10. Coup d'etat?
Rioting, looting in Shia neighborhoods in Baghdad. I read it on "Instapundit" site which linked to some Iraqi blogger. Can't vouch for it's veracity, though!

12. We're shooting journalists now.
We can't have people reporting from Iraq. It's secret Al Qaeda code.
