no one has asked Condi what was WH plan for "traditional" hijacking
in relation to terrorism. She has said "all our planning concerned traditional hijackings"....hope someone asks.

Also, it is only reasonable to assume if you stopa hijacking with airport alerts, ground security activities, etc. a hijacking does not succeed, "traditional" or otherwise.

just a point.

4. Payne Stewart's tiny plane got more than SIX fighter escorts
and yet the FOUR 9/11 planes, regardless of what TYPE of hijacking, got a total of ZERO:

An Air Force spokesman says two U.S. Air Force F-15s from Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, intercepted the plane shortly after it lost contact with aircraft controllers, and followed it to Missouri.

Pilots reported the plane's crew was "non-responsive" and that the cockpit windows were obscured by condensation or frost, an indication the aircraft may have lost cabin pressure.

Over Missouri, four F-16s from an Air National Guard unit based in Fargo, North Dakota, took over the escort mission, and stayed with the plane until it crashed.

The Air Force says additional F-16s were also scrambled from the Oklahoma Air National Guard, but were not used because the Fargo planes arrived first.

National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice said Thursday that airlines were specifically warned in August that terror groups were developing ways to carry out hijackings using "disguised weapons" such as key chains and cell phones.

But, she said, "I don't think that anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon."

Rice said it would not have made sense to shut down the civil aviation system based on a non-specific analytic report on possible threats.

FAA Administrator Jane Garvey and other agency officials did not order any new security measures, in part because they have known for years of general threats made by Usama bin Laden, agency spokesman Scott Brenner said.

"This is a threat we've been watching intensely since 1998 when bin Laden made some very public statements," Brenner said. "While we were watching these groups, we never had a credible hijacking threat. It was never, 'This group was going to do a hijacking."'

9. She should have been asked to explain "traditional hijackings" in the
same press conference that she made the statement.
