2. Allies come and go, depending upon perceived interests of states
At the moment, it is hard to find another state who perceives their interests are aligned with ours. Our interests, under Bush*, appear to be world domination and theft of natural resources, all in violation of any international law.

So, to answer your question, no.

4. Not even the UK
Tony Blair and his cabinet are US allies - the British people would rather not have a bar of Bush et al

In Australia public sentiment (again opposed to our little PM who hasn't quite managed to remove his head from Bush's nether regions) is probably half/half - and that's being generous

5. The UK Left is *not* Allied with the U.S.!
The Labour Party is emphatically not part of the UK left (and even much of the Labour Party doesn't support U.S. imperialism).

8. Australia, Israel, and Taiwan
Based on the fact all of the above are more afraid of their neighbours than they are of the USA. Of course, this means they are more of a drain than an asset, but they provide a fig-leaf in the UN General Assembly whenever colonialism gets voted on.

Soviets had Angola and South Yemen. You get us. Sorry! ;)
