3. Hmmm
Maybe the Pentagon is trying right now the best way to release this info. People might want to be heads up for the old Friday afternoon news dump.

5. Pentagon would want this out ? Sort of doubt it - -
.
.
.

And is CBC the first TV station to even mention it?

I flip back and forth to CNN now and then, haven't seen any mention

Of course,

Noone here would be surprised to see the American Media to be the last one's to pick it up.

9. You saw it on TV?
online news

http://www.cbc.ca/cp/world/040406/w040690.html

"A significant number" of marines were killed and initial reports indicate it may be up to a dozen, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

6. There is no way it was 130
Unless a camp was attacked with a huge bomb. The report said they occurred in fighting.

The number 130 has been floating around news stories about how many Iraqis have been killed since Saturday - I imagine that may be the root of the mix up.

10. Other sources are saying the same.
I won't take the backpatting media's word for it. It's all taken with a grain of salt for me.

7. Remember we're fighting in 7 different locations. 130 might be low.
I doubt we'll get an accurate count from our news. I'm more likely to believe Canada and England.

Unless the individual families are in touch, and go to the news
we will probably not get an accurate accounting..

What needs to happen is for all the "mortuary service" guys to finally get pissed off enough, to start telling how many there really are :(

12. That number is in this article
Followers of radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr fought pitched battles with foreign troops in Shi'ite Muslim strongholds on Tuesday in Baghdad and southern Iraq and vowed to pursue a rebellion that has claimed more than 130 lives in three days.

15. I think the original report was on UK Sky News
They said it was unconfirmed, and they've now reverted to 12.
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-13047720,00.html
As many as 12 US marines have been killed in fierce fighting in Iraq between Coalition forces and what is thought to have been Saddam Hussein loyalists.

Earlier reports put the death toll after the "intense" battle as high as 130.

Sky try hard to get the breaking news first, so sometimes use unconfirmed, unreliable reports at first.
