could an election be cancelled by a national emergency? |
|
just curious. trying to second guess these ghouls in the white house. i feel they are as desperate as cornered animals. i suggest we give them the option of leaving now, or face the consequences of treason on a monumental scale. marshall law keeps going through my head. i think i need to check into some sort of pill to ease my mind.

1. If things keep going this way, Diebold could still steal the election... |
|
BUT NOBODY WOULD BELIEVE IT. And that would be a problem.

2. During the Civil War... |

which was the greatest national emergency ever, IMHO, we managed to have an election.
I think this country would go into popular revolt if martial law was declared and elections suspended.

any area with fighting going on during the civil war didn't put down arms and go vote.
Of course areas with no active combat voted. There was no reason not to.
But I think it is safe to say that if all hell is breaking out in X area of the nation voting will NOT be going on. Voting was stopped in NYC on 911, for example.

15. That's because the fighting was in the South... |
|
and they had no elections, because their president served one 6 year term.

3. You mean like the Civil War? |
|
Oh, wait a minute, they did hold elections in 1864, right in the middle of a war far bloodier than Bush*'s "war on terra", and the Republican President didn't bat an eyelash.
My, how time flies...

But the BFEE will still have the suspension of the election in their arsenal. They can't run chimpy on his record. It just depends how bad things get for him before November.

4. Do you mean legally? No. |
|
I defy anyone to find any provisions in our election laws that allow for the cancellation of the election. There aren't any.
They didn't cancel them during the Civil War, so I can't imagine that anything less would be a valid reason.
As far as illegally? Good question. I wonder sometimes.

I just have a sick feeling that people are going to die stateside and bu$hco will, either cance the election, or the change of power when Kerry wins, due to "national security". I cant see these nazis turning over power that easily.

12. This is a whole new ballgame, my friend. |

This administration is like no other before. These are true fascists with a leaning toward full nazism. These guys allready stole an election, lied constantly about an illegal pre-emptive war against an innocent nation, allowed a terror attack on US soil and are doing all they can to drag their feet about the investigation of 9/11. Times have changed for the worst!

8. In Bush's wet dreams... |
|
The really good ones, where Condi finally gives him some sugar, he cancels the elections...
But if he tries to do that in reality, well, the Secret Service would object to me saying what would happen then.

9. That would be a decision up to the states |
|
since they hold the elections. The NYC Mayoral Primary was postponed a few weeks because it was to have been held on 9/11/01.
